  Description

  In pasture, on a S-facing slope. A circular area (c. 26m N-S; 24m E-W) defined by a low rise (int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.25m) NNW-SSW which resembles a levelled bank and by a field boundary (int. H 1.4m) SSW-NNW which may retain some of the original bank. A possible outer bank, visible as a rise (ext. H c. 1m) along its E and S arcs, is situated c. 9m outside the inner bank. • KE039-088 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In pasture, on a S-facing slope, overlooking the Gap of Dunloe. A circular area (c. 41.5m E-W; 40m N-W) defined by an inner steep-sided bank, an intervening fosse and a less well-defined outer bank. The inner bank (Wth 10m; int. H 3.15m; ext. H 3.35m) is composed of earth and gravel and it has possible stone-facing along its internal face at N and S. An external ledge is visible along the inner bank at E. The intervening fosse is covered with overgrowth. The outer earthen bank (Wth 5.2m; ext. H 0.7m) can be traced all round except along the ESE arc. It is heavily eroded and is obscured by overgrowth in parts. There is a possible causeway entrance through the inner (Wth c. 2.1m) and outer banks at E. The level interior is overgrown and poached by cattle. There is a souterrain (KE039-088001-) in the SE quadrant. A small rath, named 'Lisbeg' (KE039-089----), lies c. 80m to the WSW. • KE039-088001 Souterrain
  Description

  In a rath (KE039-088----). A possible souterrain entrance (L 1.3m; Wth 1m) is in the SE quadrant of the rath, 21.6m inside the inner bank. The opening leads into a drystone-walled passage (L 4m; Wth 0.9m; H 0.75m increasing to 1.2m at the SSW end; long axis NNE-SSW). At the NNE end, the passage appears to terminate in drystone walling. The passage is roofed with three lintels. At the SSW end, the passage curves WSW and leads into a creepway (H 0.27m; Wth 0.34m). The walls of the creepway consist of two large sandstone blocks and they are roofed by a large stone. The creepway is slightly corbelled. It leads into a small circular corbelled chamber (diam. 1.7m NE-SW; 1.65m WNW-ESE; H c. 1.85m) roofed by a large stone.   Description

  In pasture, on a slight S-facing slope. The rath is inaccessible due to dense overgrowth. An overgrown earthen bank (Wth 4.2m; int. H 0.7m; ext. H 0.7m) and a shallow external fosse (Wth 2m; D 0.1m) are visible along the N arc where the overgrowth is less dense. The rath is indicated as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 25m) on the 1846 OS 6-inch map abutted by a NNW-SSE field boundary at W. On the 1893 OS 6-inch map the field boundary at W is depicted as truncating the SW arc of the rath. A large bivallate rath, named 'Lismore' (KE039-088001-), lies c. 80m to the ENE. • KE039-090 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In pasture. A circular area (c. 37m N-S; 36m E-W) defined by two earthen banks with an intervening fosse and an outer fosse. The inner bank (Wth 5.4m; int. H 0.9m; ext. H 1m) has rough stone-facing on its internal face along the SW arc. The intervening fosse (Wth 2.4m), the outer bank (Wth 6.3m; int. H 0.9m; ext. H 1m) and the outer fosse (Wth 2m; D 0.2m) occur all around. An intermittent rise (H 0.1m) is visible outside the outer fosse along the SW arc. The interior is heavily covered with overgrowth and there is a possible hut site (KE039-090001-) in the SW quadrant.   In a rath (KE039-090----). A circular feature (diam. c. 6m) is indicated in the SW quadrant of the rath on the 1846 OS 6-inch map.   Description

  In wet pasture, in a marshy field with natural springs. The landowner noted a large spread of burnt material during reclamation in the early 1980s. Some burnt material is visible in the E face of a drain to the W. A field boundary which bordered the fulacht fia to the S was replaced by a deep drain which is covered with overgrowth.
