Description
Internal diameter 42m N-S, 41.4m E-W Situated in low-lying pastureland NE of KE009-041----, this univallate rath is touched at three points to the NW, E and SE by fieldbanks. The site consists of a circular area enclosed by a low earthen bank c5m wide and 1.6m high above the surrounding land and on average 1m above the interior. A slight trace of an external fosse is to be noted SE through E to ENE; it is 1.9m wide and .3m deep. The interior is at much the same level as the surrounding land, and access is gained by a 5m wide gap to the SE. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. - KE009-041 Ringfort - rath
Description
Internal diameter 30m N-S, 31m E-W Lisnadarree/Lios na Daraí (ringfort of the oak). This circular univallate rath is enclosed by an earthen bank that rises to an average of 1.6m above the fosse and 1.1m above the interior. The U shaped external fosse is 2m-3m wide and 1m deep. - KE009-042 Ringfort - cashel
Description
Internal diameter 26.6m N-S, 29m E-W Situated E of 'Lisnadarree' (Lios na Daraí, ringfort of the oak) (368), this univallate cahir consists of a sub-circular area enclosed by a low bank, which is fairly overgrown. The enclosing bank is 4m wide at the base and rises to 1m above the interior and 1.4m above the external ground level. An exterior fosse is barely distinguishable from the NE through E to SE, where it is 1.6m wide and .5m deep. The interior is at much the same level as the surrounding land and three breaks provide access, though the 3m wide gap to the SW would appear to be the main one. In the E sector of the interior is an oblong mound (KE009-042001-), 3.5m N-S, 1.6m E-W and .6m high. SW of this, at a distance of 11 m, is a smaller mound (KE009-042002-), 1.4m x 1.4m. Description
Internal diameter 30m This site which lies two fields SE of KE009-040---- is not marked on any edition of the OS maps. It consists of a circular area enclosed by a very low earthen bank c 10m wide and about .6m high. A slight external fosse c 2m wide and .5m deep is to be noted N through E to S. Two openings exist: one to the W which is 1.8m wide and one to the E, 2.6m wide. The interior is at much the same level as the surrounding land. The above description is derived from C. Description
Lissagillagill/Lios a giolla gill (fort of the white servant). Marked on the 1841-42 OS map as a circular enclosure, this site does not appear on the later edition.
