Description
In level pasture. A layer (L 8m; T 0.4-1m) of burnt material is visible in a section of a NE-SW drain. A spread of the material extends c. 2m to the SSE. According to local information, there is a spring well nearby. Description
In a wet area, to the NE of a field drain, on a slight NNW-facing slope. An extensive spread (10m SSE-NNW) of burnt material, the depth (D c. 1m) of which is visible in the side of the drain. This may be the fulacht fia, in Rossanean townland, included in an appendix of fulachtaí fia by M. J. O'Kelly (1954, 151). A possible fulacht fia (KE048-067----) is c. 75m to the S. Description
In a wet marshy area, on a slight NNW-facing slope. A low mound (19.3m ENE-WSW; 16.8m SSE-NNW; H 0.6m) of burnt material. This may be the fulacht fia, in Rossanean townland, included in an appendix of fulachtaí fia by M. J. O'Kelly (1954, 151). A burnt spread (KE048-066----) is c. 75m to the N. Description
In pasture, on a W-facing slope. A roughly subcircular area (42.1m E-W; 38.7m N-S) defined by an earth and stone bank (int. H 0.65m; ext. H 1.25m) E-NNE and by a NW-SE field drain which truncates the NE sector. A fosse (D 0.1m) is traceable E-NNE. There is a possible causeway entrance (Wth 1.6m) at S. The field boundary immediately outside the field drain may incorporate some original bank material. There is a possible hut site (KE048-092001-) in the N sector. Description
Within the N sector of a rath (KE048-092----). A small, faint irregular feature crossed by E-W cultivation ridges is visible in an aerial photograph (CDASAP) taken in August 1986). This possible hut site is not visible at ground level. An uneven ground surface, possibly indicating cultivation ridges, was noted in the area during inspection. Description
In wet pasture, at the base of a steep S-facing slope. A low mound (10m E-W; c. 6m N-S; H c. 0.7m) of burnt material. A drain containing water lies immediately to the N. This may be the fulacht fia, in Rossanean townland, included in an appendix of fulachtaí fia by M. J. O'Kelly (1954, 151). Description
An overgrown road bridge (Wth 5.2m; long axis NE-SW) spanning a tributary of the Oughreagh River. It is built of random rubble and has a single semicircular arch (span 2m) with roughly shaped voussoirs. The parapets have concrete coping. This bridge carries the Killarney-Castleisland road which was built in the mid-18th century.
