• KE074-029 Country house
  Description

  To the N of a road, close to the SE shore of Muckross Lake. The site of a cottage which was enlarged by the Herbert Family of Muckross House c. 1800 to create a substantial house (Bary 1994, 234). The 1846 OS 6-inch map depicts a roughly rectangular structure (c. 40m N-S; c. 20m E-W) with numerous angles; L-shaped outbuildings are attached to the S. The 1895 OS 6-inch map depicts a smaller structure (long axis E-W) suggesting that the rear of the building was demolished. An L-shaped two-storey stable block is still extant and inhabited. • KE074-036 Bridge
  Description

  A road bridge (Wth 6.2m; long axis E-W) spanning the Owengarriff River. It is built of random rubble limestone and a single segmental arch (span 7.5m) with roughly shaped voussoirs spans the river. A semicircular dry arch (span 2m) on the E bank appears to have been intended as a pedestrian passageway; the remains of iron gate hinges were noted on the upstream side of the arch.   Description

  In woodland, on the old Killarney-Kenmare Road which is now a pedestrian trackway. The bridge (Wth 4.7m; long axis E-W) is built of random rubble and its single semental arch (span c. 5.5m) with roughly shaped voussoirs spans the Owengarriff River. There is a concrete weir on the downstream side. Torc New Bridge (KE074-036----) is c. 1km to the N.   Description

  On the SE shore of Muckross Lake. A disused partially collapsed pier (Wth c. 9m; L c. 32m; H c. 0.8m; long axis NW-SE) with facing of large water rolled stones and core of smaller stones and gravel.
