- KD002-011 Mound
Description
Near the top of a gentle W-facing pasture slope in the grounds of Ballindoolin House. An overgrown, low, circular, flat-topped, earthen mound (diam. 18m; H 1.6m) is retained by a low dry-stone wall, and outer fosse (Wth 4-6m; D 0.1-0.2m) S-W. An inscribed plaque at S records 'This ancient mound was enclosed and planted by Christopher Bor Esq. A.D. 1760'. Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy Date of upload: 10 June 2011

Description
In Lucy's Wood on the W-edge, and apparently crossing the narrowest part of a small bog. A portion of wooden track way was uncovered during turf-cutting in the 1960's and comprised large oak planks, taken from split tree trunks, and laid side-by-side, two planks wide. Upright stakes along each side stood to 'waist height' and had forked tops to carry handrails (Mr. R.J.H. Tyrrell, pers. comm., SMR file). Three leather shoes were also found in this vicinity and were classified as 'Lucas Type 5', a form of shoe in use from the late 16th/17th C-mid 19th century. (Raftery 1969,476). - KD002-013 Moated site
Description
In level pastureland bordering the small 'Bog Wood' to the N. A rectangular area (int. dims. L 35m E-W; Wth 31m N-S) is defined by a low, grass-covered, earthen bank (Wth 2m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.7m) and a wide, but shallow outer fosse (Wth 4.5-6m; D 0.4m), from the NW corner of which a shallow leat runs N. The level interior is subdivided by a very faint grass-covered, earthen bank running N-S just E of centre, and contains a possible house site (KD002-013002-) thought locally to be the site of a former church. Description
At the level centre of a moated site (KD002-013001-). A rectangular structure (ext. dims. L 19m E-W; Wth 8.2m N-S) is defined by a very faint grassed-over earthen bank and shallow outer fosse (Wth 2m; D 0.2m). Regarded locally as having once been a church.
