  Gateway, c.1875, comprising pair of cast-iron panelled piers with profiled friezes extending into gabled capping, wrought iron double gates having cast-iron finials, wrought iron flanking pedestrian gates having cast-iron finials, cast-iron panelled outer piers having profiled friezes extending into gabled capping, tooled limestone ashlar curved (serpentine-plan) flanking walls with cut-limestone coping supporting wrought iron railings having cast-iron finials, limestone ashlar pointed-arch panelled terminating piers with hood mouldings, quatrefoil recesses over, and paired stringcourses supporting gabled capping. Road fronted at entrance to grounds of Fairview (House).

  Detached three-bay two-storey over basement house, extant 1795, on a T-shaped plan centred on single-bay single-storey flat-roofed projecting porch to ground floor; two-bay single-storey flush wing (north). Occupied, 1901; 1911. Pitched double-pile (M-profile) slate roof with clay ridge tiles, rendered chimney stacks on axis with ridge having concrete capping supporting terracotta or yellow terracotta pots, decorative timber bargeboards to gables, and replacement uPVC rainwater goods on slightly overhanging eaves; hipped and pitched slate roof (wing), clay or terracotta ridge tiles with rendered chimney stack (north) having concrete capping supporting terracotta octagonal pot, and cast-iron rainwater goods on rendered eaves with cast-iron downpipes. Replacement cement rendered coursed rubble limestone walls on cement rendered plinth with concealed tooled rough hewn limestone flush quoins to corners. Round-headed niches centred on square-headed door opening approached by flight of seven cut-limestone steps with concealed dressings framing replacement timber panelled double doors. Square-headed window openings ("cheeks") with cut-limestone sills, and concealed dressings framing eight-over-eight timber sash windows.   Detached four-bay two-storey house, c.1925, on an L-shaped plan with single-bay two-storey concave re-entrant entrance bay leading into two-bay two-storey projecting end bay to right. Now in use as guesthouse. Hipped clay tile roof on an L-shaped plan with clay ridge tiles, rendered chimney stacks having red brick soldier bond capping, slightly sproketed eaves, and cast-iron rainwater goods on rendered stepped eaves. Painted rendered walls on painted roughcast plinth with rendered stringcourses to each floor. Square-headed window openings with rendered sills forming part of sill course, and steel casement windows having cantilevered concrete canopy over to re-entrant entrance bay. Profiled square-headed door opening with concrete step, glazed timber door having overlight, fixed-pane sidelights on rendered sills, and cantilevered concrete canopy over. Set back from road in own grounds.

  Description

  Detached three-bay two-storey house, c.1875, with single-bay single-storey projecting glazed porch to centre ground floor, and two-bay two-storey lower return to north. Hipped slate roof (hipped to porch; pitched to return) with rolled lead ridges (clay ridge tiles to return), rendered chimney stacks having stepped stringcourses over red brick irregular bond construction, rooflights to return, and cast-iron rainwater goods on slightly overhanging rendered eaves. Part ivy-clad painted rendered, ruled and lined walls. Square-headed window openings with cut-limestone sills, and two-over-two timber sash windows. Square-headed openings to porch with timber pilaster mullions supporting inscribed consoles (fluted timber pilasters to corners), fixed-pane timber windows having overlights, and glazed timber double doors having overlight. Segmental-headed door opening into house with timber panelled door having overlight. Interior with timber panelled shutters to window openings. Set back from road in own grounds with landscaped grounds to site including gravel forecourt.(ii) Attached five-bay single-storey mono-pitched outbuilding, c.1875, to north with square-headed carriageway to centre. Mono-pitched slate roof with clay ridge tiles, cylindrical vent, rooflights, and cast-iron rainwater goods on rendered eaves. Painted rendered walls. Square-headed door openings with tongue-and-groove timber panelled doors. Square-headed carriageway to centre with double doors.(iii) Detached three-bay two-storey coach house, c.1875, to north with square-headed carriageway to left ground floor. Hipped slate roof with clay ridge tiles, rooflights, and cast-iron rainwater goods on rendered eaves. Painted rendered walls. Square-headed window openings with shallow sills to ground floor (no sills to first floor), and timber casement windows. Square-headed door opening with tongue-and-groove timber panelled door. Square-headed carriageway to left ground floor with tongue-and-groove timber panelled double doors.

  Detached two-bay single-storey gate lodge with dormer attic, built 1850, on a rectangular plan. Occupied, 1901; 1911. Now disused. Pitched slate roof with clay ridge tiles centred on rendered chimney stack having concrete capping supporting terracotta pots, timber bargeboards on timber purlins, and cast-iron rainwater goods on timber eaves boards on rendered eaves retaining cast-iron downpipe. Rendered walls bellcast over rendered plinth. Segmental-headed open internal porch (west) with rendered flush surround. Square-headed window opening (east) with sill, and rendered flush surround with fitting now boarded up. Square-headed window openings (gables) with sills, and rendered flush surrounds with fittings now boarded up. Set back from line of road at entrance to grounds of Rich View.
