  Situated within Abbeyleix Demesne in gently undulating countryside. No visible surface remains. Not marked as antiquity on any OS 6'' map. The old Protestant church stands on the site of the pre-Reformation church (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 389). No visible surface remains. Described by Carrigan as 'The Parish Church of the Pre-Reformation Rectory of Abbeyleix stood in Abbeyleix Demesne, on the site of the old Protestant church of Abbeyleix, now the private place of worship of the De Vesci family. The graveyard (LA023-036002-) attached thereto was, until a few years ago, the burial place of some of the old Catholic families of the district, and Catholics have still the right of interment here. It adjoins the site of the Abbey of Abbeyleix.' (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 389).   Description

  Marked only on the 1907 edition of the OS 6-inch map. Situated in the NE angle of a walled garden in an enclosed area in the grounds of Abbeyleix Demesne. The altar-tomb of Melaghlin O'More contains an effigy of a knight in armour on it's covering slab. He is covered by chain and plate armour, one of his hands is holding a sword and the other is resting on his thigh. It contains the following inscription 'Here lies Melaghlin, son of Owny O'More, who caused this tomb to be made, AD 1502. On whose soul may God have mercy. A large circular granite font (diam c. 0.8m, H c. 0.4m, T c. 0.15m) with a central drain-hole (diam. c. 0.1m) (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 394). Found in the garden of Abbeyleix demesne.   Description

  Not marked on the 1841 or 1907 editions of the OS 6-inch map. Recently placed beside altar-tomb (LA029-012). A rectangular-shaped slab (H c. 2m) with a simple cross in relief and an inscription. It commemorates William O'Kelly who died in 1531. Found in the garden of Abbeyleix Demesne. Site of abbey (LA-29-013001-) nearby. Described by Carrigan as 'The second of the Abbeyleix monuments is a floor-slab and when discovered, must have occupied its original position, which was in the floor of the Abbey church. It is broken across near the top; two of the corners are broken, and the pieces are lost. A raised eight pointed cross, resting on a graduated base or calvary, occupies the centre of the slab. There are two inscriptions, both in raised Old English lettering. One runs around the edge, on the four sides, the other, giving the name of the sculptor, is cut on the calvary. Both inscriptions are as follows, the missing portions, where the corners have been broken off, also an obliterated letter of the date, being supllied in brackets : Here lies William O'Kelly who got me made A.D. 1531. Pray for William O'Tunny, made me. (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 393). • LA029-073 Bridge
  Description

  Thirteenth century bridge within Abbeyleix Demesne known as the Monks Bridge or the Wooden Bridge in existence as early as the thirteenth century of which one arch still survives (Simington and O'Keefe 1991, 123-4). Spanning the River Nore. An eighth-arch bridge with a larger central navigation arch and pier, triangular hammer-dressed ashlar-coursed cutwaters on the upriver side, and a carriageway flanked by stone parapet walls. The first arch and pier from left hand bank downriver are part of original bridge and date to the thirteenth century. The arch is of rubble stone partly corbelled with two heart shaped keystones seperated by an inverted third; similar masonry visible in adjoining pier and cutwater. Most of the other arches, piers and cutwaters were rebuilt between 1670 and 1800. Also known as the Monks Bridge in association with the nearby site of the Cistercian Abbey (LA029-013001-) (O'Keeffe and Simington 1991, 122-4). The arches and cutwaters of this bridge have been rebuilt as can be seen from the dressed stone on the cutwaters which are of eighteenth or nineteenth century in date. Very little if anything of the thriteenth century bridge survives in the upstanding structure.   Detached three-bay two-storey cottage, c. 1820, with gabled projecting bay to centre. Renovated and extended to rear, c. 1885, comprising three-bay single-storey return with dormer attic with gabled projecting porch added to front. Now in commercial use.

Five-bay three-storey garden (west) elevation with three-bay three-storey breakfront having cut-sandstone doorcase to ground floor. Designed by James Wyatt (1746-1813) and refaced by Thomas Henry Wyatt (1807-80).
