Description
Only S portion of bank remaining. Described as a circular area (diam. c. 40m) defined by a bank (Wth c. 3m; int. H c. 0.5m-0.8m) with a fosse (Wth c. 4m, ext. D c. 0.6m) at E. Entrance at E (OPW file). Known as 'Rathpatrick' (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 309). Description
Dedicated to St Bridget. Only the featureless W gable survives bu Carrigan (1905, vol. 2, 308) mentions that half of E gable and portions of S wall of the church (L c. 12.75m; Wth c. 5.1m) were to be seen c. 1900. No early grave-markers visible. Described by Carrigan as 'Of the Church dedicated to St. Bridget (Feb. 1st), only the west gable, a fragment or two of the south side-wall, and one half the east gable remain. It was 42 and a half feet long, internally and 16 ft. 9 in. wide, the walls being from 2 and a half to 3 ft. thick, and built of small rough stones and grouting. One side of a tall lancet window remains standing in the east gable; the other side is fallen. At present there is no appearance of any division of the church into nave and chancel' (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 308). Description
Dedicated to St. Bridget (Carrigian 1905, vol. 2, 308-09). No visible early grave markers. Described by Carrigan as 'In the graveyard, a small rough headstone has : "I.H.S. William Dullany 1721". This is the oldest of many inscriptions here' (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 308). D-shaped graveyard (int. dims. 40m N-S; 42m E-W) with church in N quadrant and road forming S boundary of graveyard. Description
Dedicated to St. Bridget. Until the nineteenth century, pilgrims came here on the 1st February (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 309). Well indicated by wet patch in the ground. Described by Carrigan as "St. Bridgets well" was about 200 yards south-east of the church, in the field- formerly townland-known as Booliaduff. It was a holy well, and the scene of many pilgrimages and patterns, down to the beginning of the 19th century. Though destroyed several years ago, its site is still well known' (Carrigan 1905, vol. 2, 309).
