- LA025-063 Enclosure - large enclosure
Description
In tillage. A circular enclosure (diams. c. 75m) visible as a cropmark on Google Earth (imagery date 28 June 2018), identified and reported by Simon Dowling. The SE portion of the enclosing cropmark is not clearly visible. There is another large enclosure (LA025-064----) c. 200m to the N. See attached Google Earth image taken 28 June 2018 Compiled by: Jean Farrelly
- LA025-064 Enclosure - large enclosure
Description
In tillage. An oval enclosure (diams. c. 100m N-S; c. 87m E-W) visible as a cropmark on Google Earth (imagery date 28 June 2018), identified and reported by Simon Dowling. The SE portion of the enclosing cropmark is not visible where garden plots have encroached on the enclosure. Within the interior, SE of centre, there is a curving cropmark (L c. 28m). There are a number of later field boundaries crossing the enclosure, which are now also visible as cropmarks. There is another large enclosure (LA025-063----) c. 200m to the S. See attached Google Earth image taken 28 June 2018 Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 9 April 2019
- LA025-065 Enclosure
Description
In tillage. A roughly oval enclosure (dims. c. 59m NW-SE; c. 38m NE-SW) visible as a cropmark on Google Earth (imagery date 28 June 2018), identified and reported by Simon Dowling. The enclosure is indicated as a small field on the 1st ed. OS 6-inch map and on the subsequent revision. However, the curving nature of the enclosure appears at odds with the rectilinear nature of the surround fields, and the field boundary running along the SE quadrant kinks out to incorporating the enclosure, suggesting it pre-dates the 19th-century field system. There is a large enclosure (LA025-063----) c. 200m to the NE and another (LA025-064----) c. 300m to the SE. See attached Google Earth image taken 28 June 2018 Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 9 April 2019
