• LE025-031 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated on the N-facing slope of a hill. This is a circular overgrown area (diam. 31m crest to crest; int. diam. 28m NE-SW) defined by an earthen bank (at S: Wth 4.5m; int. H 0.7m; ext. H 0.9m) and external fosse (at S: Wth of top 6m; Wth of base 3m; D 0.4m) E-S-W (upslope), with a scarp (max. H 1.5m) elsewhere. The original entrance was not identified, and the interior was bisected by an E-W laneway which has now been removed. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. Moore (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2003). • LE025-032 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Located on top of a S-N drumlin ridge or spur. It is depicted as a circular or subtriangular embanked enclosure (ext. dims c. 40m E-W; c. 30m N-S) on the 1835 edition of the OS 6-inch map and it is visible as a circular feature on aerial photographs (OSAP: 4/1008-9). This is a grass-covered subcircular area (dims 36m E-W; 31m N-S) defined by slight traces of an earthen bank (Wth 5m; H 0.3m) N-NE, reduced to a scarp (max. H 0.8m) NE-SW, and slight traces of a fosse (Wth 8m; max. D 0.5m) SW-NW. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. • Convent of Mercy, graveyard/cemetery, 1885–1895 · Regional interest
  Description

  Convent of Mercy cemetery, established c.1890. Concrete path divides cemetery into quarters. Crucifixion statue to northern end of cemetery. Cast-iron grave markers. Site is enclosed by cast-iron railings.

• 6th Lock, lock, 1845–1855 · Regional interest
  Description

  Lock No. 6 of the Ballinamore and Ballyconnell Canal, built in 1849 and restored c.1993. Comprises two lock gates, roughly-dressed limestone walls brought to courses and cast-iron mooring posts.

• Convent of Mercy, convent/nunnery, 1915–1920 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached six-bay three-storey convent, built in 1916, with advanced central entrance bay. Southern bay is an extension. Single-storey extension to rear. Pitched slate roof, hipped to southern bay. Terracotta ridge cresting and rendered chimneystacks. Cross finial and statue in recess to gable of entrance bay. Ruled-and-lined rendered walls. Round-headed window openings with replacement uPVC windows and stone sills. Canted-bay window to southern bay. Replacement door with original fanlight and sidelights. Double height chapel attached to north end with half-octagonal end walls and hipped slate roof, channelled rendered walls and stained glass windows. Convent set back from road. Outbuildings to north.

  Description

  Single-arch canal bridge, built c.1845. Rock-faced voussoirs to segmental arch-ring, coursed stone walls with buttresses and ashlar parapets.

• Curranmount House, house, 1880–1900 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached L-plan three-bay two-storey house, built c.1890, with two-storey return and single-storey extension. Hipped slate roof with rendered chimneystacks, terracotta ridge tiles and cast-iron rainwater goods. Rendered walls with stucco quoins. Timber sash windows with stone sills and external shutters to front and replacement uPVC to rear. Canted bay windows to side elevations. Glazed porch with timber door and terrazzo threshold. Cast-iron waterpump. Stone, rendered and corrugated-iron outbuildings to rear of site.
