  Description

  A trackway extending E-W (L c. 1km) was recorded in the 1950s. It began in Corlona at the W end and crossed a raised bog in Effrinagh and Corlisheen townlands before terminating on higher ground in Ardlougher, where it continued as a modern laneway. A short section (L c. 5m) of a well-made plank trackway (Wth c. 1.2m) laid across the bog was excavated at a depth of 1m in Corlisheen and produced a C14 date of 3395 +/- 170bp. Its precise route is not known now, and none of the trackway appears to survive. (Tohall et al. 1955) The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Leitrim' compiled by Michael J. Moore (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2003).
