• LE030-007 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Situated on the SW-facing slope of a drumlin. This is a grass and rush-covered circular area (int. diam. 41.5m N-S; 40m E-W) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth of base 4-5.5m; int. H 0.2m at S (downslope) to 0.9m at N; ext. H 1.2m at S to 2.2m at W) with an external fosse which is best preserved at N (Wth of top 6.4m; Wth of base 3m; ext. D 0.5m) but evident as a field drain (at W: Wth 2m; ext. D 0.4m) W-N and as a band of lush vegetation (Wth 4.6-5.6m) elsewhere. There are modern entrances at SSW (Wth of base 2.8m), NNE (Wth of base 2.8m) and ESE (Wth of base 7.5m), and the last is probably the original entrance which has been widened.   Description

  Situated on a level landscape at the edge of the carpark of Drumeela Roman Catholic church. A sandstone block (dims of top 1.3m x 0.6m; H 1.05m) is set up on its narrow base and supported by low walls to the E and W. It had been moved from the bottom of a W-facing slope in Annagh townland c. 300m to E (LE030-050----) where it had lain prone. Architectural heritage

• Saint Mary's Catholic Church, church/chapel, 1820–1825 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached cruciform-plan Roman Catholic church, built in 1824, with single-storey bowed apse to south-east. Pitched slate roof with carved stone crosses and cast-iron and replacement rainwater goods. Carved stone corbels to eaves at angles. Pebbledashed walls with date plaque. Pointed-arched window openings have rendered surrounds and replacement timber stained glass windows. Timber battened double doors with rendered surrounds. Cast-iron bell supported on an iron frame to south of church erected c.1920. Graveyard with grave markers dating from mid-nineteenth century to present day. Site enclosed to south by a rendered wall and gates.
