  Description

  Enclosure described in 1943 as following; 'This is a platform on the edge of which is a slight bank. Outside is a fosse, which is water-logged. The entrance is on the east side, from which a causeway runs out across the fosse. The overall diameter is 210' [64m]. The bank and fosse are densely overgrown. It is situated in fairly good low-land' (O'Kelly 1942-3, 223). The outline of the monument is visible today on Digital Globe aerial photographs. • LI022-197 Moated site
  Description

  In lowlying gently undulating pasture with moderate views in all directions. Enclosure (LI022-196----) lies 200m to N. Identified from Bruff Survey aerial photographs taken 1986 (Bruff 67; AP 4/3707) as a rectangular-shaped cropmark. Surveyed by the ASI in 2000 and described as a rectangular shaped area (56m N-S; 45m E-W) defined by a scarped edge (Wth 2.5m; H 0.4m) with an external fosse (Wth 2.1m; D 0.4m). A shallow ditch (Wth 1.8m; D 0.2m) intersects the fosse at NW. Outline of monument is clearly visible on Google Earth orthoimage taken 06/02/2018.   Description

• LI022-241 Enclosure
  Description

  On a gently undulating ENE-facing slope, in pasture, with good views from NW-N and restricted elsewhere. The townland boundary with Arywee lies 280m to E. Monument is not depicted on OSi historic maps, although the area is occupied by a farmstead on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map. Identified as a large oval-shaped cropmark on Bruff Survey aerial photographs (Bruff 74: AP4/3705). Monument surveyed in 2000 by the ASI and described as a raised oval-shaped area (20m N-S; 16m E-W) defined by a scarp (Wth 3m; H 0.6m) which is higher on the downslope where it has been raised from N-E-S and is lower on the upslope from S-W-N. A field boundary runs across the site to N of centre. The interior has a gentle E-facing slope. Monument is visible as a substantial oval-shaped cropmark (106m ESE-WNW; 96m NNW-SSE) which is best preserved from ESE-S-W-WNW, on Digital Globe orthophotos taken 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimages taken 06/02/2018.
