  Description

  In reclaimed pasture 80m S of a watercourse that marks the townland boundary with Athlacca South. Ringfort (LI039-017----) lies 550m to SE. Annotated ‘Lisheengorm’ on historic OSi maps. Depicted on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map as a roughly circular-shaped area enclosed by a bank. Shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a raised sub-circular-shaped area (dims. c. 27m NE-SW; 24m NW-SE) defined a scarp with fosse and outer bank from SE-W-NE. In 1840 the Ordnance Survey recorded that ‘There are also two ancient forts in this townland. One in the N called Lisheengorm, and the other in the S’ (OSNB Abbeyfeale to Bruree 137).   Description

  In improved pasture 130m N of a watercourse that marks the townland boundary with Clogher West. Enclosure (LI039-062----) lies 225m to SE. Depicted on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map as a raised oval-shaped area. It is shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a raised circular-shaped area (diam. 30m) defined by a scarp with fosse and outer bank from SW-N-SE. In 1840 the Ordnance Survey recorded ‘There are also two ancient forts in this townland. One in the N called Lisheengorm, and the other in the S’ (OSNB Abbeyfeale to Bruree 137). Visible as a circular-shaped area delimited by trees on OSi orthophoto taken between 2005-2012. Visible on Google Earth orthoimage dated 20/09/2020, with a farm track, running E-W, to the immediate N. See attached Google Earth orthoimages.   Description

  In improved pasture 150m W of the townland boundary with Rathcannon. Ringfort (LI039-017----) lies 420m to N, ringfort (LI039-069----) 440m to SW. Depicted on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map as a raised roughly circular-shaped area. It is shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a raised polygonal-shaped area (diam. c. 28m) delimited by a field boundary marked with a solid line which may suggest the presence of a drystone wall, with external fosse from NE-S-W. A gap (Wth 8m) at WNW may be the original entrance feature. Visible as a tree/scrub-covered monument on OSi orthophoto taken between 2005-12 and on Google Earth orthoimage dated 20/09/2020.
