Description
In pasture, on gentle NNE-facing slope. Contained within narrow strip of land between stream to W and old mill race to E. Depicted as circular enclosure (diam. c. ) on 1841 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; no visible surface trace evident. Not for inclusion in the inventory as shown on 1841 OS 6-inch map with a dotted line- also an unlikely place for an enclosure on bank of river. Description
In pasture, on gentle E-facing slope, immediately below top of low rise. Circular area (diam. 31m) enclosed by earthen bank with external fosse (D 0.45m; Wth 2.95m), and earth-and-stone counterscarp bank NNW->SSW (H 0.8m). Inner bank (int. H 0.45m; ext. H 1.85m), best preserved along S arc, is masked by overgrowth SW->NNW. Dip in bank at E matched by causeway (Wth 3.4m) across fosse. Fosse is littered with loose stones. Description
In pasture, atop gentle rise in undulating terrain. Circular area (diam. 34m) enclosed by earth-and-stone bank, with external fosse (Wth 1.4m, D 0.55m) ESE->NW. Bank (int. H 1.35m; ext. H 1.85m), best preserved SE->SW, is masked by bushes and trees. Earth and stones have been dumped against external bank face at E, where there is an opening (Wth 2.7m) through dumped material and bank. Level interior is covered with nettles and thistles. Description
On gentle W-facing slope, to N of realigned main Limerick/Newcastlewest road. Mill has been demolished and area now used as car park to rear of Bed and Breakfast.
