Described by O'Kelly (1942-3, 233) as 'No trace of the church now remains. The site is marked by a graveyard. The oldest tombstone in this which is legible bears the date 1776'.   Rectangular-shaped fort described by O'Kelly (1942-3, 233) as following; 'This consists of a rectangular platform on the edge of which there may have been a bank. The latter has disappeared completely on the north side. In the S.W. quadrant there is an elongated hollow which may be a collapsed souterrain (LI031-093001-). The structure measures 120' [36.5m] north-south by 150' [45.7m], overall. It is situated in poor low land on the edge of a marsh bordering the Morning Star river. The entrance is not recognisable'.   Description

  Large enclosure described by O'Kelly (1942-3, 233) as following; 'This is a large trapezium shaped enclosure consisting of an outer bank, inside which is a fosse. Inside this is a raised open space on the edge of which is another bank. The interior is divided into three areas, two small spaces and one large, by banks which are now only barely perceptible. The entrance is on the middle of the west side. It consists of a gap 15' [4.5m] wide in the inner bank and a similar one in the outer. A sloping way leads from the inside across the fosse. The main banks are of earth and gravel but some stone has been used in the internal dividing walls. The overall maximum dimensions are : north-south 420' [128m] and east-west 300' [91m]'.   Description

  In pasture, 400m NE of a ringfort (LI031-098----). Monument described by O'Kelly (1944, 51) as a type B earthwork consisting of the following; ‘A circular platform on the edge of which there is a bank. A fosse surrounds the whole. The entrance is on the E. side, where a causeway leads to a break in the bank. The overall diameter is 120’[36m]’. Depicted on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a D-shaped area (dims. c. 17m NW-SE; 20m NE-SW) enclosed by a bank from E-S-W-NNW; bank from NE-E, incorporated into post-1700 field boundary running NW-SE. Depicted as a raised circular-shaped area defined by a scarp with wide external fosse intersected from S-W-N by a post-1700 field boundary on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map. Post-1700 field boundary has been removed. Monument described by O’Kelly (1944, 51) as a Type C earthwork consisting of a ‘circular flat-topped mound surrounded by a deep wide fosse. The mound is in places 12’ [3.65m] high, and the fosse is 45’ [13.7m] wide for most of its circumference. The overall diameter is 240’ [73m]’. Possible medieval road (LI031-069----) 345m top W with conjoined enclosures (LI031-070001-/002-) 180m to NNW. Possible monument not indicated on any ed. OSi historic maps. Circular-shaped earthwork (Site No. 031187) identified on Bórd Gáis Éireann 1:5000 aerial photograph (BGE 1:5,0000, 2506) taken 03/11/1984. Present remains consist of a slightly sunken oval-shaped area (dims. 14m NNW-SSE; 8m ENE-WSW) defined by the remains of a scarp (Wth 4.5m; H 0.45m) with possible trace of an outer fosse (Wth 5.7m; D 0.1m) visible only from NNE-W, which may be a drainage channel. Field boundary running ESE-WNW to S of earthwork depicted on OSi 25-inch map has been removed in modern times during land improvement works.   Description

  On flat pasture 696m ESE from the townland boundary with Ballintow. Crean church (LI031-091001-) and graveyard (LI031-091002-) are located 520m to ENE. Not depicted on historic OSi maps. Two internal features are identifiable within the interior of the fort on the OSi orthoimages taken 2005-12 and on the Digital Globe orthoimages taken 2011-2013. A circular structure, possibly a house or hut site (ext. diam. c. 7m) is located in the SW corner of the interior of the ringfort. A sub-rectangular structure, possibly a house site (ext. dims. c. 14m N-S; 9m E-W) is located in the centre of the ringfort. The interior (int. diam. c. 39m) of the monument is surrounded by a bank, fosse, outer bank and external fosse (ext. dims. c. 70m N-S; 72m E-W) with a possible entrances at S and NW.   On flat pasture 540m E of the townland boundary with Ballintaw. Crean church (LI031-091001) and graveyard (LI031-091002-) are located 390m to WSW, ringfort (LI031-189----) located 200m to SE. Not depicted on historic OSi maps. Visible on the OSi orthoimages taken 2005-12 and on Digital Globe orthoimages taken 2011-2013 as a D-shaped enclosure (ext. dims. c. 67m N-S; 53m E-W) surrounded by a fosse and external bank on the W side. The earthworks that define the site on the other sides consist of a fosse. Small relic field boundaries link the site into the surrounding existing field boundaries on the N and S.
