• LI022-097 Ritual site - holy well
  Description

  Site of holy well dedicated to St. John the Baptist. According to O'Kelly (1943, 226) a water pump had been erected over the well and all devotion had ceased. Described in 1955 as following; 'This well has disappeared; its spring, apparently, now supplies a pump. No surviving tradition' (Ó Danachair 1955, 216). • LI022-099 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Enclosure described in 1942-3 as following; 'This consists of an oval platform which had an earthen bank on its edge. The latter is almost entirely gone except for a little distance on the south-west side. There are no traces of it on the north side. The southern end of the monument is completely obliterated. A cart track passes close by on this side and the material of the platform may have been taken for this. There is a step-down just north of the centre, making the northern half of the platform lower than the southern. This step may be accidental as the same feature runs all along the field. It is situate close to the last monument [LI022-095----] described above. The overall diameter is 150' [46m] east-west, and it is 180' [55m] north-south' (O'Kelly 1942-3, 227). • LI022-100001 Church
  Description

  18th century disused C of I church built on site of medieval church of Fedamore (O'Kelly 1943, 226). Westropp (1904-5, 373-4) recorded the following details on Fedamore; ‘granted by John, Earl of Mortain, to Magio Abbey, c. 1185 (C.S.P.L, vol. i., p. 136); Fedemer, 1237 (lb., 2383); Reglas Fegmor, named with Glenogra (Plea R. 32 of xxv Ed. II.) S. John de Fedm., 1302; suit of W. de Cammile against Richard de Clare, about Fedemer, 1317 (Plea R. 119 of xi Ed. II); Feadamuir, dedicated to St. John the Baptist, 1410; Fedamor, 1418; Fedamore et Ballone, 1615; ffedamoore (Peyton, p. 2), 1586; Site - The modern I. C. church was built on the old site in 1740. • LI022-100002 Graveyard
  Description

  18th century disused C of I church built on site of medieval church (LI022-100001-) of Fedamore stands in the centre of a square-shaped graveyard (approx. dims. 37m N-S x 47m E-W) which has been extended (approx. dims. 37m N-S x 43m E-W) to the E. Westropp (1904-5, 373-4) recorded that the disused C of I church 'has monuments of John Croker, of Ballinagarde, 1717, aged 93; John Heart, 1741-1736'. • LI022-102 Enclosure
  Description

  Trapezium-shaped enclosure described in 1942-3 as following; 'This is a peculiarly shaped enclosure. It is right-angled at the two adjacent northern corners. The southern side makes an obtuse angle with the southern end of the west side. The monument consists of a fosse inside which there is a bank. The latter is gone on the north side. The entrance was on thig side too, and is marked now only by the causeway across the fosse. The west side measures 390' [119m] long; the N. side is 210' [64m]; the E. side is 225' [69m], and the south is 250' [76m]. These are overall dimensions. The large field around the monument is intersected by old fences but it is not possible to say if these are ancient or not. The bank and fosse are overgrown. It is situate in poor low-land. (O'Kelly 1942-3, 227). Cropmark of large enclosure and associated ridge & furrow cultivation ridges (LI022-102001-) visible today on Digital Globe aerial photographs. Could be the remains of a large field or paddock at the centre of a series of small fields containing cultivation ridges of uncertain antiquity.   Description

  Cropmark of large enclosure (LI022-102----) and associated ridge & furrow cultivation ridges visible today on Digital Globe aerial photographs and earlier OSi aerial coverage. Could be the remains of a large field or paddock at the centre of a series of small fields containing cultivation ridges of medieval date and possibly associated with the medieval manor of Fedamore.   Description
