  Description

  In grassland, in SW corner of field with post-1700 field boundaries intersecting the monument at SW, SE and S. This is the most northerly of three ringforts (LI006-040-/042----) forming a line running NW-SE for a distance of c. 200m. The two ringforts (LI006-040-/042----) lie 63m and 190m to SE respectively. Monument indicated as a sub-circular shaped area defined by a bank on the 1838 OS 6-inch map. Shown on the 1897 OS 25-inch map as a roughly circular-shaped area (approx. int. diam. 28m N-S, 24m E-W; ext. diam. 42m) enclosed by a bank from NE through S to W and by a scarp from NW to NE. Monument visible today on Digital Globe imagery taken 2011-13 with enclosing tree-covered bank with a gap at NNW. Traces of outer ditch visible from S through to NW on Google earth orthophoto taken 20/11/2010 may be associated with post-1700 drainage. • LI006-040 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In grassland, this is the central monument of three ringforts (LI006-039-/042---) forming a line running NW-SE for a distance of c. 200m. Ringfort (LI006-039----) lies 40m to NNW second ringfort (LI006-042----) lies 100m to SE. Monument depicted as a circular-shaped area (approx. diam. 35m) enclosed by a bank on the 1840 OS 6-inch map with a trigonometrical station marked in SW quadrant. On the 1897 OS 25-inch map the site is defined by a scarp with a field boundary adjoining at N and S with OS trig. station outside the monument to NW. Visible on Digital Globe imagery taken 2011-13 as a circular-shaped are enclosed by tree-covered bank with a gap at N which could be modern livestock entrance. • LI006-042 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In grassland, this is the most southerly of three ringforts (LI006-039-/040---) forming a line running NW-SE for a distance of c. 200m. Ringforts (LI006-040-/039----) lie 100m and 195m to NNW respectively. The field boundary marking the townland boundary with Ballyvarry intersects the monument at E. Ringfort depicted as a circular shaped area (approx. int. diam. 31m; ext. dims. 50m NW-SE x 46m NE-SW) on the 1840 OS 6-inch map. Shown as a partially levelled monument on the 1897 OS 25-inch map. On this map the upstanding enclosing element is depicted only from S through W to WNW, elsewhere it has been levelled. The monument is visible on Digital global imagery taken 2011-13 in a similar manner to the 25-inch map. On this orthoimage the enclosing element element with traces of an outer ditch are visible from S through W to NW, a gap at SSE gives access to a lane running along the E field boundary.
