Description
In level pasture. Circular area (diam. 29m) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.65m) with an external fosse (D 0.6m; Wth 2m). Interior level and covered by mature trees but clear of undergrowth. Conjoined on S side to similar enclosure (LI037-00802-); outer line of southern enclosure is 4m due south of outer line of fosse of northern enclosure. Description
In level pasture. Circular area (diam. 29m) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.35m; ext. H 1.45m) with an external fosse (D 0.7m; Wth 0.8m); level berm (Wth 4m) separates bank from fosse. Much of fosse infilled with dumped material. Western half of site is covered by dense overgrowth, but otherwise interior is level and under pasture. Conjoined on N side to similar enclosure (LI037-00801-); outer line of the southern enclosure is 4m due south of outer line of the fosse of northern enclosure. Description
In level pasture on elevated site. Roughly rectangular area (c. 42m N-S; c. 34m E-W) defined by an internal earthen bank (int. H 0.8m; ext. H 1m) N->ENE and scarped edge ENE->N with fosse. External bank (int. H 1.7m; ext. H 0.25m). Earthen bank crosses fosse at E to meet internal earthen bank. Limekiln built on inner face of external bank at NW. NW corner of interior quarried away and N-S running ridge runs midway through interior. Listed as a moated site by Barry (Barry 1981, 84; site no. 26).
