• LI019-054 Enclosure
  Description

  In pasture, on NE-facing hill slope. Monument, depicted on 1841 OS 6-inch map as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 20m), has been levelled on E side of N-S field boundary which dissects the site. On W side of field boundary is D-shaped area (16.5m N-S; 8.4m E-W) enclosed by earth-and-stone bank (int. H 0.95m; ext. H 0.35m) SSE->N, and by dry-stone field wall (Wth 2m) along E side. No visible surface trace of enclosure beyond field boundary to E. Interior, covered with briars, is accessed through gate in field boundary at NE; it is noticeably lower than level of surrounding terrain (by c. 0.6m). • LI019-056 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In pasture, on E-facing slope. Roughly circular area (35.8m N-S; 33m E-W) enclosed by an inner earthen bank, an outer earth-and-stone bank and an intervening fosse (W 2.5m). Inner bank (int. H 0.6m; ext. H 0.85m), best preserved SW->NW, has been much denuded by cattle at ENE. Outer bank (int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.35m) and fosse (D 0.25m) are evident only where there is a fall into site from higher ground SW->N. Loose stones from eroded outer bank litter base of fosse. Boulder at external base of bank at E dumped here during field clearance. Interior, under rough pasture, slopes down gently to E. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011

  Description

  In pasture with extensive rock outcropping in land to the W and N. Not depicted on the 1840 OS 6-inch map. Shown as a small sub-circular shaped field (approx. diam. 20m) and not as an antiquity on the 1897 OS 25-inch map. The Cassini OSi 6-inch map depicts the outline of a sub-circular shaped area (22m N-S; 18m E-W) indicated with a solid line in the same fashion as the surrounding field boundaries. OSi orthophotos taken 2005 shows the outline of the feature surrounded by scrub. No surface remains visible on Digital Globe orthoimages taken 2011-13 or on Google Earth Orthoimage taken 08/04/2015.
