  Description

  In upland pasture, with outcropping rock, to immediately E of a natural linear crevice running NW-SE and overlooking lower ground to E. Annotated ‘Liscoolan’ on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map where it is shown as a circular-shaped area defined by a scarp. Trivallate ringfort depicted on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as an oval-shaped area (dims. c. 25m N-S; 17m E-W) enclosed by three banks with intervening fosses. The outer bank is incorporated into a field boundary from NE-SE. Visible as an oval-shaped area covered with bushes on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimages. See attached Google Earth orthoimages.   In pasture75m N of a watercourse that marks the townland boundary with Ballyshane. Depicted on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map as a circular enclosure. It is shown on the 1897 ed. OSi 25-inch map as a raised sub-circular-shaped area (dims. c. 60m NE-SW; 55M NW-SE) defined by a scarp from NE-S-NW incorporated into a field boundary elsewhere with an external fosse from SW-NW. Intersected at NE and NW by field boundary running NE-SW. Visible as an oval-shaped area delimited by trees on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimages. OSi 25-inch map as a circular-shaped hollow (diam. c. 10m) enclosed by field boundary walls from SE-W-NE. Visible as a circular-shaped area overgrown with trees on Digital Globe orthoimage taken between 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimages. May be the remains of a post-1700 quarry.
