• LI014-035 Ritual site - holy well
  Description

  Situated at the base of a SE facing slope in very uneven, poorly drained pasture, with good views in all directions. Several small boulders are visible set into the ground in a slight depression (3.3m N-S; 2m E-W). According to Lynch (1911-13), 'a small, much dilapidated ulaidh or altar, was destroyed [here] being supposed to be a heap of old stones'; according to Ó Danachair (1955, 202) 'there are no traditions' associated with the well.   Description

  Situated on a gentle SE facing slope in poorly drained, undulating pasture with good views in all directions. The monument consists of a roughly circular area (20.7m E-W; 18m N-S) defined by a scarped edge (Wth 5.6m; H 1.2m), with an external fosse fosse (Wth 8m) and a counter-scarp bank (int. H 0.7m; Wth 2.1m; ext. H 0.2m) and an external bank (int. H 0.1m; Wth 3m) with an intervening fosse (Wth 2m). The interior surface slopes down to E.   Description

  Situated immediately E of a road in low-lying, poorly-drained pasture on a gentle W-facing slope. The monument consists of a roughly circular area (17.2m E-W; 15.7mN-S) defined by a scarped edge (Wth 3.1m; H 0.8m) with an external fosse (Wth 4.5m) and a counter-scarp bank (int. H 0.3m; Wth 2.6m; ext. H 0.2m) to S. Scrub overgrowth obscures the scarp from NE to SW. The road/field boundary truncates the enclosing element at W. The interior slopes down gently to SE.   Description

  In poorly drained pasture, 50m S of the townland boundary with Cloghnadromin. Ringfort (LI014-036----) lies 85m to W. Cropmark of circular-shaped area (ext diam. c. 40m) defined by a fosse visible on OSi orthoimages and Google Earth orthophotos taken 2018. Linear features, possibly drainage channels associated with post-1700 land reclamation are visible to the S of the enclosure on the orthoimages.
