• LF014-012 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On a low rise in wet, low-lying pasture. A report in 1975 (SMR file) recorded a raised circular area (diam. c. 22m) enclosed by a wide low bank of earth and stone with a wide shallow external fosse.   Description

  On wet low-lying ground, c. 80m from a stream. A raised circular area (diam. c. 25m) enclosed by a much-denuded, low bank of earth and stone (Wth 3.8m; H 0.75m max.) with a shallow external fosse (Wth 3.5m; D 0.4m). A break (Wth 2.6m) in the bank at NNE with an accompanying causeway marks the original entrance. The rath is densely overgrown with scrub rendering satisfactory inspection impossible. • LF014-040 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On a low hill in pasture, affording excellent views in all directions. A raised circular area (diam. 35.6m) enclosed by a low bank of earth and stone (Wth 5.1m; H 0.6m max.) from SSW-SW. From NNW-N-SE the bank has been extensively modified and incorporated into a field boundary. Elsewhere it has been levelled but its outline (Wth 5.6m) is still identifiable. A report in 1975 (SMR file) recorded an external fosse, which is no longer identifiable. The original entrance is not recognisable. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 26 August 2011
