• LF003-002 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On an ESE-facing slope in pasture. A raised circular area (diam. 36.1m) enclosed by a substantial bank of earth and stone (Wth 5.7m; H 0.4-0.8m) with a wide, deep, partially waterlogged external fosse (Wth 3.4m; D 1.55m). From NNE-NE-E a modern laneway occupies a portion of the fosse and it has been largely infilled from ESE-S-WSW. A report in 1990 (SMR file) recorded that the original entrance may have been at SE. This part of the rath is very densely overgrown with scrub. The interior slopes appreciably from WNW to ESE. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 26 August 2011

• LF003-015 Megalithic tomb - portal tomb
  Description

  On thin-soiled, level land, 90m to the SE of a stream. A small chamber (L 1.5m) lacks sidestones. Two portal-stones (H of both 1.8m) flank a doorstone (H 1.5m) at the E. A backstone (H 1.3m) is 1.5m W of the doorstone. A displaced roofstone (L 2m; Wth 1.55m; T 0.2m-0.4m) leans against the N side of the structure. According to a local claim, a sidestone at the S and what might have been a subsidiary roofstone were removed in the 1960s. A low mound encircles the site but this is largely, if not entirely, of recent origin.
