• LF010-108 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In level pasture. In level pasture. A raised subcircular area (diam. 28.2 N-S; 27m E-W) enclosed by a low bank of earth and stone (Wth 2.6-3.7m; H 0.3-0.6m) and the outline of an infilled intervening fosse (Wth 1.5m-2m). A report in 1975 (SMR file) recorded fragmentary remains of an outer bank at S, which are no longer identifiable. The original entrance is not recognisable. Compiled by: Patrick F.   Description

  A short distance off the highest point of a prominent WNW-ESE ridge in pasture. Depicted as a circular enclosure with the designation 'Fort' on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. A raised circular area (diam. 21.4m) delimited by a poorly defined scarp (H 0.2-0.55m). The original entrance is not recognisable. A portion of the SE quadrant has been quarried away.   Description

  On a SSE-facing slope, immediately to the NW of an early 19th-century house. Not marked on the 1837 ed. of the of the OS 6-inch map. A raised circular platform (dims. 23m) defined by a scarp (H 0.8m). From the SW-N-NE the perimeter has been modified and incorporated into the field boundary. • LF015-019 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On a gentle S-facing slope in rolling pasture. A raised oval area (c. 42m E-W; c. 34m N-S) enclosed by a low bank of earth and stone (Wth 3.1m; H 0.1m). A report in 1975 (SMR file) recorded an intervening fosse and an outer bank but the latter appears to be a later field boundary. A break (Wth 3.2m) in the bank at SE may mark the original entrance. The internal ground level slopes appreciably from N to S. It is densely overgrown with scrub rendering satisfactory inspection. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 11 January 2011
