• MA063-010 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In a dense thicket of blackthorn and hazel, surrounded by coniferous plantation. Overgrowth impeded inspection of this rath. It consists of a raised circular area or platform (diam. c. 20m) defined by a broadly slumped, earthen scarp (Wth slope 3m at E, 3.8m at SW; H 1.2m at E, 0.75m at SW). • MA063-023 Ringfort - cashel
  Description

  In pasture, located on a gentle N-facing slope. Ground falls away gradually to N to an expanse of flat boggy pasture. Much of the rising ground to S is under coniferous plantation. Sub-circular area (diam. c. 20-25m) enclosed by a roughly built drystone wall (Wth c. 0.8m; int. H 0.5-1m; ext. H 0.5-0.8m) incorporated into a radiating system of field walls. The interior area is not noticeably raised. Overgrowth impeded examination of this enclosure: The perimeter is ringed with blackthorn and hawthorn, and an impenetrable thicket of blackthorn and brambles cloaks the interior. • MA063-051 Enclosure
  Description

  In a relatively flat expanse of rough, bogy pasture. A subrectangular enclosure (20-25m N−S; c. 20m E−W) is shown on the 1838 OS 6-inch map; a penannular enclosure (c. 20m N−S; c. 17m E−W), open to E and incorporated into a network of field boundaries at N and SE, is shown on the 1920 edition.
