  Description

  In pasture, on a hillock overlooking a steep fall of ground NW−NE. Slightly raised circular area (6.4m; H 0.1m at SW; 0.35m at NW) defined by a poorly defined, silted-up fosse (Wth 2m at S 2.4m at E) with an external earth and stone bank (Wth 1.7m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 0.3m at S, 0.5m at NW). Overall diam. (crest of ext. bank): 13m. The bank is incorporated into a field fence at NNW−E and is overlain by remnants of another field fence at SE and SW. • MA081-032 Enclosure
  Description

  In pasture, located on ridge with good views NW−S. Rising ground to SW. There is a farmyard immediately to NW. A slightly raised subcircular area (diam. c. 26m) defined at SSW−W by a slight scarp (H 0.20m), truncated at NW−N by a silage pit. The E arc is incorporated into a curving earth and stone field fence (H 0.8-1m), topped by thorn bushes, which may preserve an original bank.   Description

  Located 7.5m to ENE of a court tomb (MA081-033----). A massive capstone (1.1m NNW-SSE; 1.55n ENE-WSW; T 0.35m) resting on two side stones that barely protrude above ground level, enclosing a sunken area (1m E-W; 0.5m N-S; D 0.24m) partially filled with small field stones. • MA092-005 Barrow - embanked barrow
  Description

  In rough/average pasture, straddling the gentle N-facing slope of a rise. The slope dips into a natural depression of wet ground beyond which ground rises again to a low ridge on the top of which a ring-barrow (MA092-006----) is visible c. 250m to NNW. There is a farmstead 30m to SSW. A slightly raised, circular area (9m NE–SW; 8.5m NW–SE) defined by a bank (Wth 2.7m, int. H 0.55m; ext. H 0.35-0.4m at SW, 0.55m at NE) of earth and stone. The bank is most substantial on the E arc –it may have been incorporated into a now levelled field fence on this side. At W–NW it has a broad external slump. The interior slopes down gently to NE. Grass cover, with a clump of brambles in the centre, and hawthorn bushes on the perimeter. There is a mound (MA091-109----) 220m to E. • MA092-006 Barrow - ring-barrow
  Description

  In pasture, located on a NW–SE ridge, at the break of slope on the SW side where the slope falls steeply to an expanse of wet ground, beyond which a possible embanked barrow (MA092-005----) is visible on a rise c. 250m to SSW. There is a megalithic tomb (MA092-007----) 200m to NE. Circular platform (5.4m NE–SW; 5.3m NW-SE) enclosed by a fosse (Wth 1.4m at NE, 1.7m at SW) with a broadly slumped external bank (Wth 3.6m at NE, 4. 8m at SW; int. H 0.35m at NE, 0.8m at SW; ext. H 0.1m at NE, 1.4m at SW). The platform has a very slight central depression. The external bank is topped with stones at SE and SW. Grass cover, with two hawthorn bushes growing on the perimeter. • MA092-007 Megalithic tomb - unclassified
  Description

  In pasture, on elevated ground with extensive views to NE, and good views to SW, restricted elsewhere by undulating terrain. There is a ring barrow (MA092-006) 200m to SW, a rath (MA092-008) 140m to SE, and a court tomb (MA081-033) and cist (MA081-033001) 290m to NE. Not shown on the 1838 and 1917 OS 6-inch maps. The remains consist of a setting of three upright stones. Two parallel side stones, on a roughly ENE-WSW axis, are set 1.4m apart; the N stone is more deeply sunk in the ground and leans to N. A little to E of these two stones, is a perpendicular upright, possible an end stone, which leans slightly to NE. The interior area is gently raised, stony and grass-covered. • MA092-008 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In the NE corner of a modern rectangular field, undulating pasture, straddling the N slope of a low rise, with very good views, especially extensive to N–NE towards Poolboy Lough which is c. 550m to NE in a boggy basin. Oval platform (46.5m NE–SW; 36.9m NW–SE) defined by a scarp (H 1-1.2m), which retains a low internal lip (Wth c. 2m; int. H 0.3m) topped with stone at E−SW. The scarp is noticeably slumped at E and there is a low/eroded section at N, but the location of the original entrance is uncertain. The S and E portion of the interior is level, with occasional stones protruding from the sod. The SW quadrant is at a slightly higher level, with several stones protruding apparently randomly around it, and there is a slope down in the NW–N quadrant. The scarp at N–ESE is incorporated into a later field boundary and is faced with drystone walling, now largely tumbled. A field wall on a NW–SE axis slightly truncates the scarp at S–SW. A field boundary which lay immediately to W of the rath has been removed. Grass cover, with clusters of hawthorn bushes around the perimeter. • MA092-109 Mound
  Description

  In grazing pasture, located on a rise in undulating terrain. This possible barrow is not shown on any edition of the OS maps. The remains consist of a low, circular platform (diam. 6m; H 0.3-0.4m) with a hint of a raised outer rim. It appears to be primarily earthen in composition. A single hawthorn bush grows at the SSE edge of the platform, at the base of which is a concentration of small, angular stones, most likely field clearance. An embanked barrow (MA092-005----) located c. 250m to W is visible from this site, and c. 300m to NNW there is a ringbarrow (MA092-006----).
