  Description

  Detached five-bay (two-bay deep) two-storey over part raised basement country house, built 1847, on a rectangular plan centred on prostyle tetrastyle portico to ground floor; three-bay two-storey rear (west) elevation. Occupied, 1901; 1911. Sold, 1926. Resold, 1967. Resold, 1969. Restored, 1974. Sold, 1990. Hipped slate roof on a U-shaped plan with pressed or rolled lead ridges, grouped rendered octagonal chimney stacks on cushion courses on rendered bases having "Cavetto"-detailed cornices below capping supporting terracotta pots, and cast-iron rainwater goods on ogee-detailed box cornice on blind frieze retaining cast-iron hoppers and downpipes. Replacement rendered walls on rendered, ruled and lined base. Square-headed window openings centred on square-headed door opening behind prostyle tetrastyle portico approached by flight of eight dragged cut-limestone steps with paired dragged cut-limestone columns having rendered responsive pilasters supporting ogee-detailed cornice on panelled frieze on "Cavetto" entablature below blocking course, and concealed dressings framing timber panelled double doors. Square-headed window openings with sill course on panelled consoles, and rendered surrounds with panelled pilasters supporting ogee-detailed cornice hood mouldings on "Acanthus"-detailed fluted consoles framing six-over-six timber sash windows without horns. Square-headed window openings (first floor) with sill course, and moulded rendered surrounds with ogee-detailed cornice hood mouldings on pulvinated friezes framing six-over-six timber sash windows without horns.   Description

  Farmyard complex, extant 1896, on an L-shaped plan about a courtyard including (north): Attached three-bay single-storey coach house-cum-stable outbuilding with half-attic on a symmetrical plan. Now disused. Hipped slate roof on timber construction with clay ridge tiles, rooflights to front (south) pitch, and no rainwater goods surviving on cut-limestone eaves. Repointed coursed rubble limestone walls originally rendered; creeper- or ivy-covered fine roughcast surface finish to rear (north) elevation. Pointed segmental- or shallow triangular-headed central carriageway with yellow brick voussoirs framing timber boarded double doors. Square-headed open internal porches with yellow brick voussoirs framing remains of timber fittings. Square-headed door openings with concealed dressings framing timber boarded doors. Square-headed flanking window openings with yellow brick voussoirs framing pivot windows having cast-iron square glazing bars. Set in unkempt grounds shared with Owenmore.

  Description

  Mill complex, extant 1896, on an L-shaped plan including (east): Attached seven-bay single-storey coach house on a rectangular plan. Now disused. Pitched slate roof on collared timber construction with clay ridge tiles, and no rainwater goods surviving on cut-limestone eaves. Part creeper- or ivy-covered coursed rubble limestone walls. Series of three camber- or segmental-headed carriageways (north) with red brick voussoirs. Set in unkempt grounds shared with Owenmore.

  Description

  Six-arch hump back road bridge over river, extant 1838. Now disused. Ivy-covered coursed or snecked limestone walls centred on triangular cutwaters to piers having grass-covered domed pyramidal capping with overgrown coping to parapets. Series of six round arches with limestone ashlar voussoirs. Set in grounds shared with Owenmore spanning Owenmore River with unkempt banks to river.

• Owenmore, gate lodge, 1840–1876 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached three-bay single-storey gate lodge, extant 1876, on a cruciform plan centred on single-bay single-storey gabled advanced open porch; single-bay (single-bay deep) single-storey central return (north). Occupied, 1901; 1911. Now disused. Hipped slate roof on a cruciform plan on strutted timber construction centred on pitched (gabled) slate roof (porch), pressed iron-covered clay ridge tiles, rendered central chimney stack on axis with ridge having stringcourse below capping supporting terracotta pots, decorative timber bargeboards to gable (porch), and remains of cast-iron rainwater goods on slightly overhanging eaves having timber consoles. Rendered, ruled and lined walls with concealed hammered limestone flush quoins to corners. Square-headed central door opening with overgrown threshold, and concealed dressings framing timber panelled double doors. Square-headed window openings with cut-limestone sills, timber mullions, and concealed red brick voussoirs framing timber casement windows having square glazing bars. Set back from line of road at entrance to grounds of Owenmore.
