  Description

  In pasture, in the SW corner of a field, located on the tip of a low E-W ridge, c. 40m W of a ringfort (MA121-100001-). When recorded in 1986 this was evident as a rectangular area (8m E–W; 4m N–S) defined on the N, E and S sides by grass-covered wall footings, and truncated on the W side by a field wall which borders the E side of a N–S laneway (SMR file, 1986). It is the most northerly of three houses (see also MA121-100003-; MA121-100004-), all with parallel E–W long axes, which occur in a close set N–S row.   Description

  In pasture, in the SW corner of a field, located on the tip of a low E-W ridge, c. 40m W of a ringfort (MA121-100001-). When recorded in 1986 this house was evident as a square area (6m E–W; 6m N–S) defined on the N, E and S sides by grass-covered wall footings, and truncated on the W side by a field wall which borders the E side of a N–S laneway. Immediately to E is a shallow rectilinear depression (3.5m E–W; 8m N–S) with possible traces of a wall along its E side (SMR file, 1986). This house is the central house in a N–S row of three close set houses (see also MA121-100002-; MA121-100004-), all with parallel E–W long axes.   Description

  Detached four-bay single-storey direct entry thatched farmhouse, extant 1838, on a rectangular plan. Now disused. Pitched roof with water reed on straw base, exposed lattice stretchers to ridge having exposed scallops, rendered, ruled and lined chimney stack having "Cavetto"-detailed stringcourse below capping, rendered rough hewn limestone crow stepped coping to gables, and blind stretchers to eaves having blind scallops. Part creeper- or ivy-covered limewashed lime rendered coursed rubble limestone battered walls. Square-headed opposing door openings with concealed dressings framing replacement tongue-and-groove timber panelled door (east) or timber boarded door (west). Square-headed window openings with concrete or rendered sills, and concealed dressings including timber lintels framing two-over-two timber sash windows having exposed sash boxes with one one-over-one timber sash window to rear (west) elevation having exposed sash box. Set back from road in landscaped grounds with cement rendered piers to perimeter having ivy-covered capping supporting looped flat iron double gates.
