• ME006-049 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Located on a fairly low NE-SW ridge. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 46m NE-SW; 43.5m NW-SE) defined by an earthen bank (at ENE (Wth of base 3m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.3m) or scarp (at WNW: H 1.7m) with some trees that is separated by a fosse (at ENE: Wth of top 5m; int. H 1.3m; ext. H 1.3m) from an outer bank (Wth of base 5m; ext. H 016m), both of which only survive W-NE where it runs into the outer bank of The rath (ME006-050002-) immediately to the NE. The perimeter is barely traceable E-S, and there is no identifiable original entrance which may have been in this quadrant. • ME006-050001 Souterrain
  Description

  Located on a fairly low NE-SW ridge. The entrance to the chamber of this souterrain is at the lip of the outer fosse of rath (ME006-050002-) at E. The souterrain consists of a beehive chamber (diam. 1.5m; max. H 0.9m) with a short segment of passage (L 1.85m plus; Wth 0.75m) extending off to the S before becoming impassable because of spoil. • ME006-050002 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Located on a fairly low NE-SW ridge. This is a subcircular grass-covered area (dims 46m NE-SW; 39m NW-SE) defined by an overgrown earthen bank that is best preserved at SE (Wth of base 5.3m; int. H 1m; ext. H 1.4m) or as a scarp (at ENE: Wth 4.5m; H 2.9m) that is separated by a fosse (at ENE: Wth of top 9m; Wth of base 2.5m; ext. D 0.7m; at WSW: Wth of top 6.5m; ext. D 1.6m) from an outer bank (at WSW: Wth of base 5m; ext. H 1.3m) that has been largely levelled (at ENE: Wth of top 4.5m; ext. H 2.3m) and has an outer drain (ext. D 0.5m) NNW-ESE. The entrance through the inner (Wth of base 2.1m) and outer (Wth of base 2.6m) banks and a causeway (Wth of base 6m; H 0.4m) are at SE. Rath (ME006-049----) is immediately to the SW. The entrance to the chamber of souterrain (ME006-050001-) is at the lip of the outer fosse on the E side. Archaeological testing (05E1046) by R. Meenan c. 80m to the NE produced no related material (excavatioins.ie 2005:1213). • ME006-051 Moated site
  Description

  Located just SW of the summit of a fairly low NE-SW ridge. This is a rectangular and slightly dished grass-covered area (dims 27.8m NNE-SSW; 24.5m WNW-ESE) with rounded corners that slopes down to the E. It is defined by grass-covered earthen banks (at NE: Wth of base 8.9m; Wth of top 3m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 1.2m) and outer fosses (at NE: Wth of base 3m; ext. D 0.45m).
