Sweetman (RMAHS 1982-3, 58-68) who demonstrated that it was a burial mound of the late Iron Age. This monument is subject to a preservation order made under the National Monuments Acts 1930 to 2014 (PO no. 11/1977).

Detached nine-bay single-storey railway station, built c.1847. Pitched slate roof, yellow brick chimneystacks and cast-iron water goods. Timber clapperboard walls, with string course at sill level, set on a stone plinth. Segmental-arched openings with timber block-and-start surrounds. Timber sash windows. Timber pilaster and entablature shopfront. Panelled timber doors. Stone embankment walls flanking tracks. Cast-iron pedestrian bridge to site.

Detached three-bay two-storey station master's house, built c.1847, with a single-storey projecting entrance porch. Pitched tile roof with two rendered chimneystacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. Circular-plan stone piers with cast-iron gates, and outbuildings to site.

Timber double doors flanked by timber pilasters with carved timber cornice and fanlight above, set in segmental-arched door opening.

Concrete engaged columns flanking entrance door and windows, supporting concrete projecting panel with recessed name band.

Description
Detached circular-plan roughcast rendered church, built c.1975, retaining façade of former church, c.1870. Yellow brick gable-fronted entrance with buttresses, set on a rock faced limestone plinth. Pointed arch door opening and triple lancet windows with limestone dressing. Light shafts in walls and ceiling illuminates interior of church.

Two pairs of square-profile decorative cast-iron piers, c.1880, flanking pedestrian and vehicular entrances, with cast-iron single and double gates. Elaborate anthemion and intertwining foliate motifs to piers.

Detached five-bay single-storey national school, dated 1947, with central projecting entrance porch. Hipped tile roof with terracotta ridge tiles, rendered chimneystack and cast-iron rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls with rendered panel over entrance door having cast-iron lettering. Paired timber sash windows with dividing timber mullions and concrete sills. Panelled timber door with side lights. Flat-roofed playground shelter to site, now with blocked openings. Terrazzo floor to porch with roundel reading "Our Lady of Mount Carmel 1947".
