Description
Situated on a rise which is on a fairly steep N-facing slope overlooking the NW-SE Kilmainham stream, c. 100m to the N at the closest point. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 33 NNW-ESE; 32m ENE-WSSW) defined by a grass-covered earthen bank (at WNW: Wth of base 4m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.7m) with some trees E-S-NW, and an outer fosse (at ESE: Wth of top 5m; Wth of base 1.5m; ext. D 0.3m) NE-S and SW- NW (at WNW: Wth of top 4.5m; Wth of base 1.2m; ext. D 0.9m), but both the bank and fosse are absent NW-NE. Rath (ME005-010----) is c. 150m to the SSW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). Description
Located at the tip of a S-N spur. This is a subcircular grass-covered area (dims 43m NNE-SSW; 38m WNW-ESE) with some tree-stumps that slopes down to the NE (H c. 1m). It is defined by an earthen bank (at WSW: Wth of base 5.6m; Wth of top 1.2m; int. H 0.7m; ext. H 1.7m) that is reduced to a scarp (Wth 4m; H 2.6m) at NNE but the perimeter is planted with deciduous trees S-N-E and morphs into a field bank E-S. A field bank and outer drain surround the base of the bank or scarp NW-E. There is an outer fosse (at WSW: Wth of top 4.3m; Wth of base 2.2m; ext. D 0.5m) across the spur S-SW, but the original entrance is not identified. Rath (ME005-009----) is c. 150m to the NNE. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of revision: 3 September 2018 Amended: 14 December 2022

Description
Situated on a steep NE-facing slope overlooking the valley of the NW-SE Kilmainham stream. A circular enclosure (diam. c. 35m) with trees on the perimeter is depicted only on the 1836 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic lettering as a ‘Fort’. There is a curving scarp (Chord c. 20m NE-SW; Wth 1.2m; H 1.5m) planted with trees W-N, but there is no indication that is is an antiquity. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of revision: 10 July 2007
