• ME002-026 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Located towards the S end of a small S-N spur that rises from a N-facing slope. This is an oval grass-covered area (dims 33m NNW-SSE; c. 18m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (at NNW: Wth of base 5.5m; int. H 1m; ext. H 2m) and hedge NW-NNE that is absent NE-SE where the monument is conjoined with (ME002-026001-). The bank morphs into a field bank (Wth of base 2.5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.8m) SE-SW, and the monument is defined by la sunken lane (Wth of base 2.5-3m; ext. D 0.5-1.5m; int. D 2-2.5m) SW-N-NE that is probably on the site of an original fosse, which is not otherwise evident. The original entrance is not identified. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). • ME002-026001 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Located towards the S end of a small S-N spur that rises from a N-facing slope. This is a subcircular grass-covered area (dims c. 30m E-W; 28m NNW-SSE) defined by an earthen bank (Wth of base 3.5-5m; int. H 0.5-1m; ext. H 1-2m) and hedge with no visible fosse that only survives NW-E-SW but it has outer facing stones E-SSW. The original entrance is not identified. This rath is conjoined with rath (ME002-026----) which is immediately to the W but it is not possible to determine which monument is the earlier. • ME002-027 Enclosure
  Description

  Situated on a knoll that is located towards the bottom of a NE-facing slope. It is represented as a large embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 65m) on the 1836 edition of the OS 6-inch map and as a large subcircular enclosure (dims c. 60m x c. 55m) defined by a field bank on the 1908 edition. This is a large grass-covered area (diam. 56.5m E-W; 56m N-S) with some rock outcrop defined by a slight earthen bank (at NW: Wth of base 3.2m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.2m) with some bushes and an external stone facing. There is no visible fosse but there is an entrance break in the bank (Wth of base 1.8m) at ESE. Although there is no evidence that it was planted with trees it could be a landscape feature.
