  Description

  Located at the summit of and at the E end of an E-W drumlin ridge. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 29m ENE-WSW; 26.5m NNW-SSE) defined by an earthen bank with some bushes and an outer fosse, which is bounded by a field bank except E-SE where the bank appears to have been thrown into the fosse. The original entrance (Wth of base 5m), now closed, and causeway (Wth of top 3m; H 0.7m) are at E, although there is another entrance and causeway at NW. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986). • H. McElvaney, public house, 1930–1935 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached corner-sited three-bay two-storey L-plan public house, built c.1932, having canted and box-bay windows to ground floor front, three-bay south side elevation, and with single-storey extension to rear re-entrant corner. Hipped artificial slate roof with polychrome red and yellow brick chimneystacks, paired to front elevation, terracotta ridge tiles, and cast-iron rainwater goods with octagonal-plan hoppers. Roughcast rendered walls, having smooth render corners, sill-course, eaves course and plinth. Square-headed window openings, having smooth rendered surrounds, and painted concrete sills, with replacement timber windows to public elevations and one-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows to rear. Square-headed display window to front elevation, with painted timber fascia with carved consoles. Square-headed door opening to shop, with double-leaf timber panelled door and over-light with painted lettering. Small internal porch with part-glazed timber panelled door to interior. Single-storey outbuilding to north, with corrugated-iron roof and corrugated-iron and cement-slated walls, square-headed openings with some timber fittings. Vehicular entrance from north-east having square-plan piers with pointed caps, low balustraded wall with plinth to east of building, bounding garden.

  Description

  Freestanding cast-iron water pump, erected c.1880, having banded shaft, bulbous banded cap with rope detail, and fluted domed finial. Ram's head bucket grip to plain spout, and cow's tail handle terminating in rounded grip. Set in flower bed to side of road. Now disused.

• Saint Michael's National School, school, 1940–1960 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached six-bay single-storey former national school, built c.1950, having flat-roofed single-storey projection to north and east, and single-storey play-shelter, and three-stage square-plan water tower, to north-east. Now disused. Pitched slate roof, with cast-iron rainwater goods, vent pipes, and harl-rendered chimneystacks to gable ends. Harl-rendered walls, with smooth-rendered plinth course, inscribed stone plaque to front elevation. Square-headed window openings, with replacement uPVC windows, slim rendered reveals, and painted concrete sills. Six bays of three-pane timber windows survive to clerestory in rear elevation. Square-headed door opening with timber battened door, to west elevation, and recessed square-headed doorway to centre of rear elevation with matching door. Harl-rendered walls and square-headed openings to water tower. Arcaded open-sided play-shelter having harl-rendered walls, and with round-plan columns to open side. Set back from road with roughcast-rendered wall to west broken by vehicular entrance and two stiles, with replacement cement block wall to south-west.
