Description
Located on the spine of the SE-facing slope at the S end of a broad NNW-SSE drumlin ridge. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 49m NW-SE) that slopes down steeply to the SE (H 4.8m) defined by an earthen bank (at NW: Wth 5.6m; int. H 1.6m; ext. H 1.2m) and hedge with an outer fosse (at NW: Wth of top 6m; Wth of base 2.4m; ext. D 0.6m) W-N, but the perimeter is reduced to a scarp (at SE: Wth 2m; H 1.9m) E-SW. There is an entrance (Wth of base 3.1m) at SE. The interior has been developed as a garden since 2000 (OSAP). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).
