Description
Situated on high ground with excellent views in all directions. A flat topped mound of earth (top: 15m N-S; 16m E-W; base: 28m N-S; 27m E-W; max H c. 1.5m). Defined by a gradual slope on the S-SW side and by a steeper slope on the N-NE side. Possible faint traces of an external bank on the NE side. Known locally as 'Tully Fort'. Description
Detached three-bay two-storey house with attic, built c.1810, having two-bay two-storey second pile, latter with two-bay two-storey addition, and remaining bay having single-bay lean-to addition. Lean-to timber-framed glass house to south-east gable of house. Pitched slate roof with terracotta ridge, cast-iron rooflights to rear elevation, and simply moulded timber bargeboards with overhanging verges supported on exposed purlin ends. Smooth rendered chimneystacks with ornate clay pots, and half-round, cast-iron rainwater goods held on smooth rendered eaves course. Roughcast rendered walling with painted, smooth rendered plinth. Square-headed window openings with smooth render reveals, painted stone sills and timber sliding sash windows, eight-over-eight pane with chamfered horns to front and one bay of rear. Two-over-two and three-over-three pane windows to rear and attic, all with painted stone sills. Segmental-headed doorway with moulded surround, four-panelled timber door separated by engaged fluted columns from two-over-two pane timber sliding sash side-lights with painted stone sills and lacking horns, bat-wing fanlight to moulded archivolt, and sandstone steps. Partly roughcast rendered rubble stone boundary wall encloses rear yard of house with brick-built segmental carriage archway to north-west of house. Further lean-to structures built against rear yard boundary wall, and detached four-bay single-storey outbuilding with attic, pitched slate roof and roughcast rendered walls forms west corner of site. Terraced lawns to front and rear of house and yard with mature trees and replacement brick entrance piers.

Description
Detached house, built 1875, having three-bay elevations to all sides, three-storey rear and side elevations, two-storey front elevation with canted bay windows to ground floor, and lower gabled projecting middle bay to rear. Hipped slate roof with paired red brick chimneystacks, terracotta ridge tiles, overhanging eaves having timber eaves supports to front, rooflights to rear, and cast-iron rainwater goods. Roughly coursed squared peck-dressed limestone walls to front and south elevations, dressed yellow sandstone block-and-start quoins, tooled limestone plinth course over rendered walls to basement. Ruled-and-lined rendered wall to north, rendered wall to rear. Carved stone bust near top of return rear wall. Gauged-brick square-headed window openings to front and south elevations, having tooled sandstone sills and red brick surrounds. Bay windows have gauged-brick segmental relieving arches, tooled stone sills, timber mullions, and margined four-over-four pane timber sliding sash windows with four-over-four pane windows to canted sides. First floor windows to front, and middle and top floor windows to south, are timber casements. Windows to north elevation, basement of south, and end bays of rear, are six-over-six pane timber sliding sash. Fixed timber windows to other rear openings, that to top floor of projecting bay having round head and stained glass. Gauged-brick round-headed door opening to front, with red brick surround, timber panelled door, cobweb fanlight, stained-glass sidelights over timber panelled risers, door opening onto rendered platform with three flights of stone-paved steps. Square-headed replacement timber door at basement level. Set in landscaped grounds.
