  Situated on a natural rise in undulating countryside. Natural hillock which has been scarped to form an oval shaped platform (diam 58m N-S; 63m E-W) which is defined by a scarp (H 2m) best preserved at W. No visible entrance feature identified.   Situated on top of a N-S ridge in undulating countryside. Raised circular area (diam 34m E-W) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 1.5m; ext. H 3.5m max. at E.; int.   In 1623 the commissioners appointed by the English Crown for the plantation of Kings County granted Henry Fisher the 'castle, town and lands of Clonnoghan alias Cloneboghan and Coolefoble' (Cal. pat. rolls Ire., Jas I, xxxi, 560).
