  Description

  Located on a slight rise in low-lying poorly drained area. Low flat topped circular mound (diam. 6m; ext. H 1m) enclosed by wide berm (Wth 2m), shallow inner fosse and two external banks of earth and stones with intervening fosse. Impossible to examine or measure site due to dense overgrowth. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Offaly' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997).   Description

  On a slight rise in undulating countryside. Circular area (diam 35m N-S) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 1.9m; int. H 0.5m) with wide flat bottomed fosse (Wth 2.8m; ext. D 0.8m; int. D 2m) and causewayed entrance (Wth 4.2m) at E. No definite evidence of an external bank, field fence intersects W side of site.   Description

  On top of a natural rise in undulating countryside. Circular area (diam 28m E-W) enclosed by an earthen bank (Wth 1.5m; int. H. 0.7m; ext. H 2m) from SW through W to North, elsewhere it is reduced to a scarp with wide fosse (Wth 2m; ext. D 0.7m) and external bank (Wth 2m; ext. D 0.5m) best preserved from North to West elsewhere destroyed. A field ditch intersects the site at East. • OF007-196 Structure - peatland
  Description

  A stake (L 0.75m; diam. 0.06m) set at an angle of 50° evident in the drain face where it was located 0.42m below the field surface. The stake had a wedge shaped toolmark on its submerged end. It is set into poorly humified raised bog with occasional Eriophorum and ericaceous remains. Recorded by the Irish Archaeological Wetland Unit (University College, Dublin) in 1997. The evidence is not sufficient to warrant its acceptance as the remains of an archaeological monument. • Moorock Bridge, bridge, 1850–1870 · Regional interest
  Description

  Single-arch masonry railway bridge, built in 1859, carrying a road over the Tullamore Athlone section of Portarlington Athlone branch. Abutments of rusticated limestone blocks, coursed and with tooled quoin edges. Rusticated voussoirs. Spandrels and parapets of coursed blocked with plain faces. Rusticated string courses runs across the bridge. Deck slightly curved in profile. Arch of segmental profile.
