Description
On a low NW-SE ridge, in tillage. Shown on the 1st ed. (1839) of the OS 6-inch map as an almost square area (est. ext. dims. c. 55m NW-SE; c. 50m NE-SW) defined by a substantial bank. Description
Towards the E end of a roadside graveyard (KD026-010001-). A ruined rectangular structure (int. 10.6m E-W; 3.2m N-S) is defined by low grassed-over, collapsed walling (int. H 0.3-0.6m; Wth 1.3-2.5m; ext. H 0.2-0.6m). A gap (Wth 1.7m) mid-way along the S sidewall marks an entrance. A partially earthfast, chamfered arch-stone (L 0.5m; Wth 0.25m) lies in the SW corner of the interior, which also contains burial plots. Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy Date of upload: 24 August 2012
- KD026-010001 Graveyard
Description
Prominently located at the S end of a low spur overlooking mixed pasture and tillage to E, S and W. A triangular area is defined along the roadside to S by a mortared stone wall (L c. 70m) facing a low earthen bank, by a gently curving wall (L c. 70m), which also acts as a townland boundary, along the W, and by a low hedged, earthen field bank (L c. 95m) along the E. The interior contains a ruined church (KD026-010----). The earliest legible grave markers date to the 18th-century and the graveyard is still in use.
