Description
The following description is derived from both the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986) and the 'Archaeological Survey of County Louth' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1991). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Roughly circular raised area (int. dims. 35m E-W, 32.5m N-S) delimited by an earthen bank (Wth 2.2m at top; H 2.1m externally, 0.5m internally). Wide (3m) external fosse, recut in parts to form a modern ditch. Entrance with causeway across fosse at W, probably ancient. The site is located on a slight E-W ridge in a tree plantation on demesne lands and may have been adapted at a later date as a tree-ring.

In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Church ruinous in 1622, no visible remains (CLAJ 1943, 207-8). A plain font (LH018-026002-) stands at the front door of the modern church (diam. of base 0.41m, H 0.49m, D of basin 0.2m, diam. of basin 0.45m).

- LH018-026003 Graveyard
Description
Rectangular shaped graveyard (map dims. c. 48m E-W; c. 36m N-S) bounded by roadway to N and E. Present church in NE, which is probably on site of earlier church (LH018-026001-) which was ruinous in 1622. According to the Irish Folklore Commission Schools' Manuscripts (674, 32) 'there is a very old tombstone, but no one can understand the writing on it, and the date on it is 1019'.
