• Mill (water), 1840–1870 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached six-bay four-storey former corn mill on complex-plan, built c. 1855, now ruinous and out of use. Roof now largely collapsed, formerly pitched natural slate. Squared rubble stone walls, now overgrown with vegetation. Square-headed window openings with brick or cut stone voussoirs over. Cut stone sills. Square and segmental-headed doorways. Set back from road in own grounds to the north of Ballintra. Remains of former external waterwheel (composite timber and metal) attached to the gable end (not viewed). Weir and former headrace to the east. Ruinous outbuildings to site.

• Mill (water), 1790–1830 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached eight-bay five-storey over basement former corn and/or flour mill, built c. 1810, now ruinous and out of use. Roof now collapsed, formerly pitched natural slate. Projecting cut stone eaves course. Squared and coursed rubble stone walls with dressed flush ashlar block-and-start quoins to the corners. Walls now largely overgrown with vegetation. Square-headed window openings having cut stone voussoirs over, timber lintels and cut sandstone sills. Some cast-iron lattice window frames and fittings remains. Square-headed door openings with cut stone voussoirs, timber lintels and battened timber doors or remains of battened timber doors. Set back from road in own grounds to the north of Ballintra. Located on the north bank of the Ballintra River. Ruinous outbuildings to west and to site; evidence of former block, now demolished, attached to the west gable end having pitched slate roof. Modern two-storey flat-roofed outbuilding attached to the north-west corner. Section of rubble stone boundary wall to the north having integral segmental-headed carriage-arch with red brick voussoirs. Remains of other rubble stone boundary walls to site. Former millrace, now dry, runs from the east to west to the east of mill.

• The Mill House, mill manager's house, 1860–1900 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached three-bay single-storey house or former mill manager’s house with attic level and basement, built c. 1870, having central projecting breakfront to the main elevation (west) with canted-bay window, and central single-bay two-storey over basement return to the rear (east). Now in use as a private house with modern extension to the rear. Pitched natural slate roof with overhanging eaves and with catslide roof to rear return. Two rendered chimneystacks, one offset to the south side of centre and one located close to the north gable end. Cement rendered walls having cement rendered eaves course and recessed cement rendered plinth to base. Hipped natural slate roof to canted-bay window. Square-headed window openings with replacement timber casement windows. Some surviving six-over-six pane timber sliding sash windows to the rear (east); square-headed window with cast-iron lattice glazing bars survives to basement. Square-headed door opening at ground floor level to the north face of rear return having replacement timber panelled door and with overlight with geometric glazing bars. Wrought-iron security bars to some window openings at basement level. Cast-iron railings adjacent to doorway having fluer-de-lys finials over; cast-iron platform over basement level serving doorway. Set back from road to the west of remains of former flour mill (see 40909916) and former corn mill (see 40909915) and to the north of Ballintra. Rubble stone boundary walls to site.

• Bridgetown Bridge, bridge, 1760–1800 · Regional interest
  Description

  Double-arched bridge carrying road over the Ballintra River, built c. 1780, having V-profile rubble stone cutwater to central pier. Possibly containing earlier fabric. Widened to the upstream side (east). Shallow segmental-headed arches having roughly dressed stone voussoirs; rubble stone construction to arch barrels with projecting stones at arch springing point. Rubble stone construction to spandrels, abutments and to parapets; concrete coping in places over parapets. Rubble stone wing walls to either side, that to the south-west stepping out from the profile of the bridge. Tarmacadam deck. Located to north of Ballintra.
