  Description

  Walled garden associated with Castle Wray (now ruinous, see 40905304) on rectangular-plan, erected c. 1790. Now partially in use as farmland. High rubble stone boundary walls with rubble stone coping over with modern cement repairs in places. Integral square-headed pedestrian entrance to the south-west corner with remains of battened timber door. Located to the north of the site of Castle Wray, and to the north-east of Letterkenny a short distance to the west of the shores of Lough Swilly. Remains of additional walled garden to the adjacent to the west (see 40905330). Remains of rubble stone outbuildings to the south-west. Single-arched rubble stone bridge (see 40905384) over stream to the south-west of walled garden.

• Castle Wray, kiln, 1780–1820 · Regional interest
  Description

  Freestanding single-bay lime kiln on rectangular-plan, erected c. 1800. Tapers outwards towards base. Now out of use. Constructed of roughly coursed rubble stone masonry. Segmental-headed opening to front, the former oven aperture, having rubble stone voussoirs. Former loading chamber on ovoid/circular-plan to the top having rubble masonry construction. Built into rock outcrop adjacent to former quarries. Earthen embankment to rear, formerly giving access to loading chamber. Set well back from road to the south-west of the site of Castle Wray (house ruinous, see 40905304), and to the north-east of Letterkenny.

  Description

  Single-arched bridge, built c. 1790, carrying pathway between ruinous site of Castle Wray (see 40905304) to former walled garden (see 40905381) over small unnamed stream following into Lough Swilly adjacent to the east. Now out of use. Round or segmental-headed arch with roughly dressed stone voussoirs; squared rubble stone construction to arch barrel. Squared and rubble stone construction to spandrels and abutments. Dwarf rubble stone parapets over having metal or timber railings over. Earthen or overgrown deck. Located well back from road in former Castle Wray demesne a short distance to the north-east of the site of the main house, and to the south-west of former walled garden (see 40905381).

  Description

  Single-arched bridge, built c. 1750 and possibly containing earlier fabric, carrying former road over small unnamed stream flowing into Lough Swilly adjacent to the east. Now out of use. Formerly associated with Castle Wray (now ruinous, see 40905304) and originally connecting demesne with now demolished flax and corn mills. Segmental-headed arch with roughly dressed stone voussoirs; squared rubble stone construction to arch barrel. Rubble stone construction to spandrels and abutments. Dwarf rubble stone parapets. Earthen or overgrown deck. Rubble stone containing walls to banks of stream. Located well back from road in former Castle Wray demesne a short distance to the south-east of ruins of house and outbuildings.

• Castle Wray, dovecote/pigeon house/aviary, folly, 1700–1800 · Regional interest
  Description

  Freestanding single-bay two-storey tower or dovecote associated with Castle Wray (now ruinous, see 40905304), built c. 1750 and possibly containing earlier fabric (possibly a flanker tower to earlier bawn to site). Possibly later in use as a folly. Now out of use. Rubble stone walls with traces of early lime render over. Top now truncated. Located adjacent to remains of Castle Wray adjacent to stream to the north-east of house. Bridge located adjacent to the west. Set back from road in extensive mature former demesne lands to the north-east of Letterkenny, and to the south of Ramelton.

• Castle Wray, well, 1700–1800 · Regional interest
  Description

  Remains of former well house (on circular-plan) associated with Castle Wray (now ruinous, see 40905304), built c. 1750 and possibly containing earlier fabric. Rubble stone construction. Located to the west of the ruins of Castle Wray) adjacent to the east bank of small unnamed stream flowing into Lough Swilly to the east.
