  Description

  Situated just off the crest of a NE-facing slope. This is a large D-shaped and grass-covered area (dims 50m NE-SW; 45m NW-SE) that slopes down to the NE. It is defined by an earthen bank (at SW: Wth of base 5m; int. H 1.1m; ext. H1m) with some bushes that is incorporated into a NNE-SSW field bank W-NW, and an outer fosse (at SE: Wth of top 8m; Wth of base 2; ext. D 0.7m) that is visible ESE-W. The straight side (L c. 35m) is at SE and there is a NW-SE field bank outside the bank SW-W. The original entrance is not identified.   Description

  Located on a rise in an undulating landscape. This is a circular, raised grass and scrub-covered area (diam. 36m NW-SE; 35.5m NE-SW) defined by slight traces of a bank (Wth of base 6-8m; int. H 1-1.3m) but largely by a scarp (H c. 1m) E-S, a fosse at S: Wth of base 3m; ext. D 0.2m) ESE-S-W, and an outer bank (at S: Wth 4.5m; ext. H 0.2m) ESE-S-W that encloses rath (ME008-018002-), which is to the N but separated by a berm (Wth 6m), on its W side. The original entrance is not identified.   Description

  Located on a rise in an undulating landscape, and 6m N of rath (ME008-018001-). This is an overgrown D-shaped or subcircular overgrown area (dims c. 28m E-W; c. 25m N-S) area that slopes down to the N. It is defined by an earthen bank (Wth of base 5m; int. H 0.6-1m; ext. H 0.8m at S to 1.2m at N), and the outer bank of rath (ME008-018001-) extends from W of that rath to the W of this rath but morphs into a field bank (at N: Wth 3.5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 1.4m) and outer drain NW-E where it meets a farm lane. The original entrance is not identified.   Description

  Situated on a slight rise in an undulating landscape. This is a slightly raised and domed grass-covered area (dims 36m WNW-ESE; 30m NE-SW; H 0.5-0.8m) defined by an earthen bank (at WNW: Wth of base 4m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 1.3m) W-N that is largely reduced to a scarp (at ESE: Wth 4.3m; H 1.7m) and hedge. There are traces of an outer fosse (at WNW: Wth of base 4.5m; ext. D 0.1m) that is largely reduced to a berm (at ESE: Wth 2.7m). The original entrance (Wth of base 2.4m) is at E. • ME008-020 Enclosure - large enclosure
  Description

  Located at the crest of a steep NE-facing slope down to a small SE-NW stream that is c. 50m distant. It is not depicted on any edition of the OS 6-inch map but it is visible on aerial photographs (GSIAP: N 32/71). This is a D-shaped grass-covered area (dims c. 130m E-W; c. 70m NE-SW) backing onto the slope down to the stream at NE. It is defined by a fosse (Wth of top 9m; D 0.9m) SE-S and by a grass-covered earthen bank (at SSW: Wth of base 6.4m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H c. 2.5m) and outer fosse (at SSW: Wth of top 5m; ext. D 0.7m) S-W, the bank declining to a low scarp as it proceeds N to the edge of the ravine scarp.   Description

  Situated on a slight WNW-ESE ridge in a gently undulating landscape. It is not depicted on any OS 6-inch map. This is a low grass-covered subcircular mound (dims of base 13m WNW-ESE: 10m NNE-SSW; H 0.4m at NE to 0.6m at SW). • ME008-022 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  Located on a rise towards the S end of a small N-S ridge. A circular embanked enclosure (ext. diam. c. 40-45m) with a wide bank is depicted only on the 1836 edition of the OS 6-inch map where it is described in gothic lettering as a ‘Fort’. The location is now divided by a NNE-SSW field bank but traces of a grass-covered enclosure could still be extant.   Archaeological testing (10E0384) c. 170m to the E produced no related material (excavations.ie 2010:512).   Description

  Standing of the N side of a minor E-W road and on the E side of an abandoned entrance to an avenue. This memorial stone (H c. 1m; Wth 0.4m; T 0.1m) was first identified and recorded by Paul Gosling. It is set perpendicular to the road wall and is protected by an iron railing. Its E and W sides have inscriptions and are recorded by Gosling as E face: IHS / [pra]y for the / [soul] of Owen / Reilly who / died January / 28th 173 [5] aged / 63 also of / his wife Marga / ret Reilly wh / o died 9ber 18 / Erect by ------- Reilly 1753. The W face reads: you who go / this road / as we often / did say / your prayer / for the dea / d or if you / be in hast / say that / they may / rest in peace.
