- ME006-017 Ringfort - rath
Description
Situated on a fairly low NW-SE ridge. This is a circular grass and rush-covered area (diam. 36m N-S; 33m E-W) sloping down to the SE. It is defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth of base 3.5-6m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.9-1.4m) and hedge ENE-W-N with some evidence of outer facing stones. There is no visible fosse and the entrance (Wth of base 2.5m) is at E. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Revised by: Michael Moore Date of revision: 26 October 2018

Description
Located on a rise on an undulating and generally S-facing landscape. In 1969 this was a circular overgrown area (diam. c. 45-50m) that slopes down to the SE. It was defined by an earthen bank (at W: Wth of base 13m; int. H 1.6m; ext. H 1.3m) and an outer fosse (at W: Wth of top 5.5m; Wth of base 3m; ext. D 0.4m) but the original entrance was not identified. The growth had been removed and the visible earthworks greatly reduced by 1995 (OSAP). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Revised by: Michael Moore Date of revision: 26 October 2018

Description
Situated on a relatively low hillock. It is not marked on any OS map but it is visible on aerial photographs (GSIAP: N 672/3). This is a slightly raised circular area (diam. 41.5m N-S; 39m E-W) defined by a scarp (H 0.3m m at N to 1.8m at SW) but the perimeter is slightly truncated by an overgrown E-W field bank at S. There is no visible fosse or entrance. The field bank at S was removed in 1995 (OSAP) but the monument survives intact. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Revised by: Michael Moore Date of revision: 26 October 2018

Description
Situated in a low-lying position on the N bank of an E-W stream. This is a subcircular grass-covered area (dims 34m NNW-SSE; 30m ENE-WSW) defined by a slight earthen bank (at NNW: Wth of base 6m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 1.7m) and hedge with an outer fosse (at NNW: Wth of base 1.3m; ext. D 0.5m) SSW-N-E and by a low scarp elsewhere, with an outer drain ESE-S. There is a modern entrance at NNE but the original entrance is not identified. The possible rath (ME006-023----) is c. 100m to the WSW, on the other side of the stream. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). - ME006-025 Ringfort - rath
Description
Situated on top of a relatively low drumlin with higher hills around it. It is described as ‘Ballymahullog Fort’ in gothic lettering on the OS 6-inch maps. This is a raised circular and grass-covered area (diam. 46m ENE-WSW) defined by a scarp (H 1.4 at WSW to 2.3m at ENE) separated by a fosse (Wth of top 5-6m; ext. D 0.6m at WSW to 1.4m at ENE) from a middle bank (at N: Wth c. 5m; ext. H 1.7m) that is poorly defined SE-SW and incorporated into a field bank WNW-NE. This bank is separated by a fosse (at WSW: Wth of top 6m; Wth of base 2.5m; ext. D 1m) that is only visible WSW-N-ENE from an outer bank (at WSW: Wth of base 5.5m; ext. H 1.7m) WSW-WNW (max. ext. diam. 75m ENE-WSW). There is a widened entrance through the inner (Wth of base 5.8m) and outer (Wth of base 10.5m) banks and an inner causeway (Wth of top 4.7m) at S. Archaeological testing (03E1345) by just to the NW produced evidence of a ditch (Wth 1.8m; D 0.55m plus) that is probably a further outer fosse of the rath (excavations.ie 2003:1447) (Meenan 2003, 4). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). Description
Situated on a shelf towards the bottom of the W-facing slope of a drumlin. This was a subcircular area (dims 35m N-S; 29m E-W) that was removed in 1967 when it was only visible as the vegetation mark on the site of the bank or a slight scarp (at S; Wth 3.3m; H 1m). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). Description
Situated on top of a short NW-SE drumlin ridge, it is not depicted on any OS 6-inch map. This is a circular grass-covered area (diam. 24.5m N-S; 24.5m E-W) defined by a scarp (Wth c. 2m; H 02-0.4m). There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 26 October 2018

Description
Located on a fairly low-lying landscape between drumlins. It is depicted as an embanked enclosure described as a ‘Fort’ on the 1836 edition and as a circular feature defined by a hachured bank on the 1908 edition of the OS 6-inch map. This was removed in 1967 but was still traceable as a circular area (diam. c. 40m N-S; c. 40m E-W, crest to crest) defined by the parch mark of an inner bank (Wth c. 3m), the lush growth of a fosse (Wth c. 5.5m) and the parch mark of an outer bank (Wth c. 4m). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Meath' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1987). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Revised by: Michael Moore Date of revision: 26 October 2018
