Description
Situated on a hilltop in reclaimed pasture. Listed as 'Enclosure' in the SMR (1992) and the RMP (1996). Hachured as a circular feature (diam. c. 25m) on the 1842 and 1921 eds. of the OS 6-inch map and clearly hachured as having a bank and fosse on the 25-inch map. It is not visible at ground level however faint traces on the N extent can be made out on a Google Earth image taken in September 2009 (diam. c. 30m) and a possible central circular feature (diam. c. 9m) can be seen on a Google Earth image taken on 10 February 2021. - CL033-012 Ritual site - holy well
Description
Situated on the S bank of a stream at the bottom of a steep N-facing hill. Indicated and named 'Toberinneenboy' on the 1842 and 1921 eds. of the OS 6-inch map. It was dedicated to St. Inneen (Frost 1893, 114; O'Flanagan 1929, vol. 1, 28), but is it not visible at ground level and is not known locally. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 18 May 2016
- CL033-058 Ritual site - holy well
Description
In a slight fold on a NE-facing slope and on the W side of a laneway. The well is a rectangular drystone-built structure (dims. 1.1m x 1.1m) with two lintels and an opening (Wth 0.6m x 0.6m) at NE. Just to the N statuary is housed in a large concrete and glass structure (dims. 2.1m x 1.2m; H c. 2m) with a rendered wall allowing passage around it. Description
Affixed to a wall at a holy well (CL033-058----). A gable-shaped cross base (rectangular base 0.46m x 0.35m; gable H 0.15m; total H 0.45m). The cross stem on top of the gable is hexagonal (0.17m x 0.16m; H 0.12m) with a square socket (0.085m x 0.085m; D 0.04m). The cross is likely to be from an 18th or 19th-century church.
