- RO017-135 Ringfort - rath
Description
Towards the bottom of the N-facing slope of a drumlin, c. 100m from the S shore of the triangular Lough Inch (dims c. 500m NW-SE; c. 300m NE-SW). Described in 1983 as a circular area (diam. 28m) defined by a low scarp with an outer drain NNW-NE, and by a band (Wth 3m) of moss elsewhere (SMR file). No feature is now visible at ground level in pasture with some scrub. Raths (RO017-174----) and (RO017-175----) are c. 150m to the SW and SSW. - RO017-136 Crannog
Description
Towards the SE corner of traiangular Lough Incha (dims. c. 500m NW-SE; c. 300m NE-SW), c. 80-90m from the SW and NE shores. Subcircular overgrown island (dims. 22.5m E-W; 19m N-S) of earth and stone (H 0.5-0.6m) with some horizontal timbers visible just off the shore S-SW. The mound falls away steeply c. 3m from the shore. A quernstone fragment (original diam c. 0.44m; T 0.07m) is visible on the surface. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
- RO017-172 Ringfort - rath
Description
At the W end of an E-W drumlin ridge. Circular overgrown area (diam. c. 26m) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 5-5.5m; int. H 0.65-1m; ext. H 1.5-1.8m), and an outer fosse (Wth of base 2.5-3m; D 0.3-0.65m) S-NW and at NE which is surrounded by a field bank S-E-SE. There is no visible entrance. Archaeological testing (02E1036) immediately to the SE failed to produce any related material (Read 2004b). Rath (RO017-173----) is c. 160m to the ESE. Description
At the E end of an E-W drumlin ridge. Circular overgrown area (diam. c. 37m) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 5-6m; int. H 0.7-1.4m; ext. H 1.5-2m) S-N-E, and by a scarp (H 1m) elsewhere. Description
On the NE-facing slope of a drumlin. Trapezoidal grass-covered area (dims 33m NE-SW at SE to 41m NE-SW at NW; 31.5m NW-SE) defined by earthen banks (Wth 4.5-5m; int. H 1m; ext. H 1.1m at NW to 2m at NE) at NE and parts of the SE and NW sides, and by outer moats (Wth of base 4.2-5m; D 0.1-0.4m) on the NE, SE and SW sides. There is an outer bank (Wth 6m; int. H 0.95m; ext.
