Description
Situated on a plateau with ravines to the W and N. Subcircular area (dims. 31m N-S; 28m E-W) defined by the remains of an earthen bank (Wth 2-3m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.6-1.3m) SW-N, which is reduced to a scarp (H 1m) N-SE and replaced by field wall SE-SW. There is no visible fosse, and the entrance cannot be identified. The S half of the interior is planted with coniferous trees. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). - WA005-031 Ringfort - rath
Description
Situated on a plateau with a ravine to the W. Oval scrub-covered area (dims. 56m N-S; 43m E-W) defined by the slight remains of an earthen bank (Wth 2.5m; int. H 0.2m; ext. H 1m) and outer fosse (Wth at base 4m; D 0.3-0.7m) upslope N-E-S, both of which are reduced to a scarp (H 2-3.5m) and berm (Wth 4-7m) respectively, S-W-N. Within this platform and incorporating its perimeter E-SW is a raised subcircular platform (diam. 39m E-W; 31m N-S) defined by a scarp (H 0.5m) W-N-E, which may be the original monument. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999).
