Description
Located on a shelf on the S bank of the NW-SE Glendine river, c. 50m from the stream. It was discovered c. 1970 but not recorded at that time. It is described locally as a lintelled passage (L c. 7m; Wth c. 0.6m; H c. 1.2m) extending N-S. The site was backfilled but some roof lintels are still visible. Description
Located at the S edge of a plateau before the ground slopes away to the SW. Subcircular grass-covered area (dims. 30m N-S; 24m E-W) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 4-5m; int. H 0.6m; ext. H 0.8-1.2m) with external stone-facing, which is reduced to a scarp (H 0.8m) SE-SW. There is no visible fosse or entrance. The bank is planted with coniferous trees. Description
Located on top of a NW-SE ridge. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 39m NW-SE; 37m NE-SW) defined by an earth and stone bank (Wth 3.5-4m; int. H 0.3-1m; ext. H 1-1.5m) NNE-SE which is curtailed by a NE-SW field bank at NW and reduced to a scarp (H 0.8-1.2m) elsewhere. An entrance (Wth 1.5m) at E might not be original and only slight traces of an outer fosse survive. A rath (WA031-011----) is immediately adjacent to the SW. Situated on the N bank of a small W-E stream in pasture. There is local tradition of a church at Kilnafrehan (Power 1952, 145).
