  Description

  In wet pasture 150m N of the Assaroola River that marks the townland boundary with Boolanlisheen. Enclosure (LI050-010----) lies 240m to E. Depicted on the 1840 ed. OSi 6-inch map as a circular-shaped enclosure. Shown on the 1893 OS 25-inch map as a sub-rectangular-shaped area (dims. c. 45m NE-SW, 38m NW-SE) defined by a scarp and intersected at NE and S by drains running E-W. Surveyed by the ASI in 1999 when described as a raised circular-shaped area (diam. c. 38m) defined by a scarp (Wth 1.3m, H 1.4m) that from NE-SW is incorporated into a field boundary with associated field drain. Interior slopes slightly to S. Outline of monument delimited by bushes is visible as on Google Earth orthoimages. See attached Google Earth orthoimages. • LI050-010 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In level undulating pasture with moderate views in all directions, 210m NE of townland boundary with Knocknagranshy. Possible ringfort (LI02-123----) lies 185m to SW. Depicted on the 1840 ed. OS 6-inch map as a roughly circular-shaped earthwork with radiating field boundaries at SSE and SSW. Shown on the 1897 ed. OS 25-inch map as a D-shaped area (dims. c. 27.5m N-S) defined by a scarp from NE-E-S with straight side at W. The W side of the monument was levelled between these map dates. Surveyed by the ASI in 2000, described as a raised circular-shaped area (dims. 18m N-S; 20m E-W) enclosed by a bank (Wth 7.1m; int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.8m) from N-E-S-SSW reduced to a scarp from SSW-W-N. The interior is level and overgrown with trees. Tree-covered monument visible on Google Earth orthoimages. • LI050-011 Cliff-edge fort
  Description

  In pasture, on slight WNW-facing slope, immediately S of River Aherlow that forms townland boundary with Barna. Depicted on the 1840 ed. OS 6-inch map as a roughly D-shaped earthwork intersected at N by a townland boundary running E-W. Shown on the 1897 ed. OS 25-inch map as a raised D-shaped area defined by a scarp with fosse at E. Surveyed by the ASI in 1999, described as a raised semi-circular shaped area (30m N-S; 40m E-W) defined by a scarp from NE-E-S-W-NW, with external fosse (Base Wth 2.1m; Overall Wth 6.1m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 0.3m) from NE-E-S, intersected at N by scarp of river (H 2.5m). A drain runs radially to fosse from S-W-NW. The interior slopes to WNW and densely overgrown at the margins. Two breaks in the scarp at E (Wth 1.4m) and S (Wth 1.4m) appear to be modern livestock openings. • LI058-002 Cairn - boundary cairn
  Description

  On moderate W facing mountain slope with excellent views in all directions. Annotated 'Mound' on Cassini ed. OSi 6-inch map where a mound is shown standing on the townland boundary between Ballynamuddagh and Carrigeen Mountain. Site visited in 1999 but no surface remains of any mound could be found in the area marked on OSi 6-inch map.   Single-arch sandstone road bridge, built c. 1800, with coursed rubble walls with render copings to parapets. Dressed voussoirs to segmental-headed arches.
