Description
In low-lying level pasture. Roughly rectangular area (26.5m N-S; 21m E-W) enclosed by rubble-stone field boundary. Just inside boundary along N side is scarped edge (ext. H 1.05m; Wth. 4m) facing into enclosure, whilst along inside of boundary on W side is scarped edge (ext. H 0.4m; Wth. 3.5m) facing the boundary. Gap in boundary (Wth. c. 4m) at NE corner. - LI010-092 Enclosure
Description
In pasture, on N-facing slope. Roughly circular area (15.7m N-S; 19m E-W) enclosed by collapsed dry-stone wall (H 1.2m; Wth 4m). Interior is level and covered by trees and bushes. Running N from NE edge of enclosure is low stony bank (L 62m) which terminates at E-W field boundary. Extending W (L 38m) and E (L 52m) from latter are further sections of low stony banks. Description
In low-lying undulating pasture. Monument, depicted on 1841 OS 6-inch map as embanked circular enclosure (diam. c. 20m), has been levelled. According to local information site consisted of circular dry-stone enclosure removed during land clearance. Approximately in area of site, in N corner of field, is dump of limestone boulders which probably derived from enclosure. Otherwise, No trace of monument evident when inspected. - LI010-123 Ringfort - rath
Description
In rocky pasture, on gentle N-facing slope. In SW corner of field arc of earth-and-stone bank (int. H 0.25m; ext. H 0.35m; Wth 4m) N->SE appears to be remains of circular enclosure truncated on W and S sides by field boundaries; area enclosed by bank and field boundaries (31.6m N-S; 7.2m E-W) roughly D-shaped. Site partially overgrown with bushes and there is much stone strewn about derived from eroding bank. Known locally as "a fort". Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
